The Mother and The Daughter Ch. 02
Chapter 2
Note: This is my first story, and I decided to divide it into chapters. The first chapter was a little confusing. I tried to improve on this one; English is not my native language, and sometimes it's difficult to write and express myself as I want. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
When Pedro arrived home he could hear the shower running, he went to the girls bedroom and the bed was already made and she tied up everything, she was her mother's daughter, that idea ran through his mind. He left the suitcase by the bed and went to the kitchen to make some breakfast. He heard the bathroom door open, he looked and Sara was leaving, nude, only with the towel in her hair. Fortunately she didn't notice him and went to the bedroom, he was shocked, not for her nudity, she didn't expect him there, shocked that the vision excited him.
When she entered the bedroom and noticed the suitcase she panicked, did she flash him? She rolled herself in a towel and went back to the kitchen. Pedro was now with his back to the door, maybe he didn't see her leaving the bathroom?
"Hi Pedro, I see you brought my suitcase, thank you so much, how did it go?"
He feigned surprise and turned around.
"Hi little one, you look relieved, I'm happy to see you better. It went without a problem, only the girl was awake and I only brought the suitcase, you bathroom things I didn't bring... The bathroom was... occupied.
"I went to the supermarket on the way, but I didn't know what you needed. You have a new toothbrush, roll on, shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. Didn't know if you needed some "womanly" stuff but we can pass there later. Did you sleep well?"
"You're too kind Pedro, I have everything I need, I don't know how I can ever thank you for everything you are doing to me. I slept fine."
She didn't remember the nightmare and that he slept with her in bed after, the pills he gave her made the effect he intended.
"Don't thank me Sara, I've done nothing special, it's a pleasure to help Sofia's daughter.
"It's almost 9, you should call your mum, but before that go get dressed and eat breakfast, you didn't eat anything last night."
She approached him, kissed his cheek and went to her room.
What was happening? He thought of her walking by, naked, and that night in Sintra with her mom came to his memory, it was always there and he recurred to it a lot, but all the visuals were blurred out. Seeing Sara, that perfect little body, brought all back, she was a hard copy of Sofia, a little taller? Maybe 2 or 3 centimeters, no more than that. The breasts were as full as Sofia's, her butt was as firm and round too. He shouldn't be feeling this, but he noticed he was getting a hard on.
"The toast smells great, I'm so hungry now. Lets eat," she said as she returned to the kitchen.
She was wearing the pajamas again, seemingly without anything beneath, like that, with her hair still wet she was a blue eyed angel, just like he remembered her mother. They took breakfast mostly in silence, some small talk, the weather, the school, he didn't push her to talk more about the day before.
"I have to call mum now, it's not worth delaying any longer," said Sara.
"I'll give you privacy, little one," he replied.
"No, please stay, hold my hand, I'll need it, she will ask to speak to you certainly, and I'm going to sweeten the story, I'll not give her all the details, and you need to know what I'll choose to tell her," she answered, clearly anxious.
"Sara, are you asking me to lie to your mum? After 20 years of almost silence the first time we speak I'm going to lie?" He replied, he had a serious face, a face she hadn't seen before.
Sara was in shock, she had taken it for granted that he would back her up, but maybe she was asking too much? Her eyes welled up with tears.
"Pedro, like you said, omission is not lying, and I can't speak on the phone with my mum saying my boyfriend tried to abuse me, my boyfriend and the other two friends I was with, were conspiring to pratically rape me. I don't want you to lie, I'm asking you to back me up on this one."
She started to cry, to sob again. It was obvious by now that whatever happened the day before was much more serious than he realized and realized he had to compromise. He was holding her hand, and squeezed it hard, comforting her.
"Sara, I knew there was something more serious than what you had told me, now I realize it was even worse than what I imagined, sorry you had to go through all that. You're right, that's not a phone call subject, I'll cover for you, even if I'll have to lie to your mum, little one," he replied, now with a comforting face, looking deep in her big blue eyes.
"What were your plans, how long were you going to be down here? I'm staying here at least until Sunday, Tuesday at most, but if you want to leave now I'll take you home, there's no need for your parents to come here to get you, and before you ask, I will not let you return alone by bus or train. But in the end it's your decision."
Sara replied, "The plan was to stay here with my boyfriend, ex boyfriend until Sunday, then my parents would arrive and I would stay another week with them. I'll have to discuss that with mum, are you sure it will be ok for you to drive me home and ruin your vacation?"
"It would not ruin anything, I've done this route so many times it's almost a commute to me now, and I'll be in your company, we could share some more of our mutual secret stories. Ultimately, the decision is yours, you are an adult and I won't press you to do anything, you can even stay here until your parents arrive on Sunday, I know their are working and it would be difficult to them to make the trip here to get you, that's 600km back to back," he assured her.
Sara was now relieved, "Are you sure I can stay here? I've already ruined a date for you..."
"No you didn't, I have all the time in the world to date, so do you, you are a beautiful young woman, don't let that boyfriend of yours mess with your confidence. Sofia's daughter is always welcome at my place," he replied back, now smiling at her.
"Thanks so much Pedro, I'll call mum now, stay here with me, to support me," Sara said and he nodded in agreement.
"Hi mum, how are you?"
Pedro didn't hear Sofia, he had to rely on Sara's part to understand what was going on.
"I'm fine, but I had a big fight with my boyfriend yesterday and we broke up," Sara said in visible discomfort.
...
"Calm down mum, I'm fine, but I'm not with them anymore. After the fight I was alone and desperate but I found Pedro, your high school friend?"
...
"Yes, the one we met at the mall a couple of years ago and you had a big discussion with dad after.
"I recognized him and he helped me, he took care of me and I spent the night at his place. I'm at his place right now, he made me breakfast and recovered my luggage from the apartment. He is sweet, never expecting that someone would do that for me, someone he just met on the streets."
...
"Mum wants to speak to you," Sara said looking in his eyes, she was scared.
"Pass me the phone," he replied, "Hi little one, long time, are you ok? You raised a strong young little lady here."
"Pedro... I don't know what to say, I guess thank you would be the most adequate now." said Sofia from the other side of the line.
"You don't have to thank me baby. It was a pleasure to meet your daughter, she's a hard copy of you, determined and strong. She was kind of desperate last night but now she's better. You know me long enough, I would never let your daughter in trouble, the promise we made to each other extends to our children too, right?"
"Of course. And I guess she is, but she's much stronger and smarter than me, she got that from his father," said Sofia, almost whispering by now.
"That's not all she got from you, she's almost a clone, when she came to me I called her Sofia, she looked at me with 'your' big blue eyes, she's you with darker hair."
"I hear that all the time," Sofia replied.
"I don't know what you want to do, Sara explained to me how her vacations were planned, and all that went to hell last night..."
"Pedro," she interrupted him, "I didn't trust everything she told me, did she tell me all that happened last night? It was more serious than that?"
Pedro looked in Sara's eyes, searching for words.
"Yes, it was more messy than what she told you, but she is fine and she didn't lie to you. She's not hurt, she has a serious case of broken heart, but you know me, I have a degree in broken hearts and I'm supporting her."
Sara looked at him, surprised he didn't back her up completely, but didn't interrupt him.
"I've told her if she decides I'll take her home now, and I told her she could stay here until Sunday, you have to talk to her and decide, I know you and her father are at work and there's no need to any of you to do 600 km to bring her home, and before you speak I won't let her go alone by bus or train, I already told her that too. Talk to her, and I'll do what you both decide, but I won't press her on anything, she's 18 and capable of making her own decisions by now," he tried to assure Sofia.
"Really Pedro, you just pulled that card after all these years?"
"You know me, I don't like to lose, it's 2-1 for me now," he replied smiling.
Sara could hear they were both laughing right now, she didn't get the joke and she was only hearing Pedro's side of the call. What were they talking about, promises, extending the promises to their children? Who is this guy that seems so close to mum and she didn't know anything about?
"Ok, you are right, as you usually are, but I have to talk to my husband about this too, can you pass me to her again? And thank you once more, you still know I love you, right?" asked Sofia.
"After all these years? Sure I know, I love you too little one, I'll pass you back to your clone now. It was nice talking to you again, missed you," he replied melancholically.
Sara was in disbelief of what she just heard, she was agape in shock of what she just heard, how close they seemed, how caring Pedro was when talking to her, and did he tell her mum he loves her? Did her mom tell him that too?
Pedro carefully closed Sara's agape mouth, smiling at her, "There you go Sara, I guess she is calmer now, tell her you were calling me "Mr Pedro", she'll find that funny," he said as passing her the phone back.
"Mum? Didn't know you were such good friends," she emphasized the "good" with sarcasm.
...
"Relax mum, I was messing with you, after what he did for me I already knew he would be a very special person to you. I'm inclined to accept his invitation to stay here until Sunday, I'm really ashamed and confused about all that happened, and I think it would be good for me to have some time alone, away from you and dad, away from reality," said Sara, trying to convince her mother.
...
"No, I won't be a weight on him, his house is close to the beach, he can go and take care of all his girlfriends and I can stay here and go to the beach by myself."
She was speaking to her mom and looking in his eyes, asking for his permission, he nodded and smiled at her, giving his silent permission which brought a smile to her face.
"I know you will have to talk to dad, and I know the last decision I made didn't go so well, but I have to make mistakes to learn to make good decisions, and would like to have the last word on this one. You want me to call dad?"
...
"Alright, I'll wait for you to call me back, love you mum."
"Sara, let me talk to your mum before you hang up please," he asked before she hung up the phone.
"Mum, "Mr Pedro" wants to talk to you again, he forbade me to call him Mister, even threatened to put me sleeping in the streets if I called him that again," laughing, she handed the phone back to Pedro.
"I would love to see your face when she calls you "Mister"," Sofia said, enjoying the joke.
"Very funny you two, I'll make her pay for making jokes with the old guy here. I'll ask Sara to text you my phone number, and if you don't mind I'll ask her your's if you're ok," Pedro questioned Sofia.
"I still have your number, if you didn't change it," she replied.
"You have my number? We promised... we.. I erased your number that day."
"I did, we promised... but..." Sofia tried to justify.
"You still have my number and haven't even sent a message for almost two decades? I only knew you had a daughter from your mother, Sara had almost a year by then," he replied, clearly irritated.
Each time they spoke Sara got more and more confused by everything, who is this man? He seems so close and yet they didn't speak for what? 18, 19, 20 years? What was "that day" that he erased her mum's phone number?
"I didn't have the courage to delete it, and I have written so many messages all these years but didn't have the strength to send, sorry I broke our promise, and sorry I didn't make contact. I don't have your strength," Sofia replied, now clearly unsettled.
"So I guess you wouldn't mind if she gave me your number right? I won't call you, just in an emergency, I promise," Pedro replied, trying to de-scalate the argument.
"It's ok, if you promise after all this you call me, we have so many years to recover, my mum told me when you divorced, and that you have a couple of kids of your own, what are their ages?" Sofia questioned.
"She is 17 and he's 15. They spent more time with their mum than me, especially during school, but we see each other every week. They are good kids, you would love to meet them."
"I would like to meet them very much, I have to go now, I'll talk to the "other one" and then I'll call Sara," Sofia said, trying to avoid more confrontations.
"Right, but try to respect her wishes, I think it will be good for her to be far from her parents, from her friends, to gather her thoughts and then tell you what happened, I don't know much more than you. And I don't have "girlfriends", she has a dark sense of humor, she didn't get that from you," Pedro replied a little more at ease.
"Yeah, you nailed it, that dark sense of humor she got from her dad too."
"Seriously, I've only talked to him once and he didn't seem to have any humor at all," He said laughing and remembering the only time they spoke.
"That's complicated... I'll go now, take good care of her, she's more precious than you imagine," Sofia appealed to him.
"Bye Sofia, I will, I'll give her my broken heart therapy. Love you," he ended the call and handed the phone to Sara.
After the call they stayed in silence for a while, Sara was overwhelmed by everything she heard, who was Pedro, what happened between him and her mum all those years ago? Was he ready and willing to tell her? Should she ask for it? Could she learn more from her mother's past with him?
"Pedro, thank you, I'll never forget what you are doing for me, but now after everything I've heard, and I only heard your part of the conversation, I guess I know why you are doing all this for me," Sara said, looking serious at him.
"You do, I already told you why I'm..."
Sara interrupted him. "Yes, you are old friends, I've heard that again and again, but that doesn't explain everything, right? Nor the "crush" story, right? This doesn't answer all the questions I have after listening to you talk to my mother for the last 5 minutes."
"I'll answer like your generation loves to answer, "It's complicated". We should get ready and go to the beach and then grab something to eat there for lunch, what do you think? Then we can share some more details of our secret stories?" he replied, trying to change the subject.
~~~~~
Pedro arrived home with divided feelings, he had the perfect night, not in his wildest dreams he imagined that night. He lost his virginity, and he took her virginity too, it was perfect, but it was over. In a few months he will be studying abroad, she was going to get married next summer, and that night will only be a memory. Was she going to remember that night as he did?
He couldn't sleep and he didn't want to sleep, his adrenaline was so high that he was more awake than ever and decided to take a cold shower and go somewhere out for breakfast.
When he was at the coffee shop he got a text from Sofia:
"I love you, you gave me the perfect night, I'll never forget you" then a second one, "The other one called my mum last night, he's suspicious, be careful"
"Love you too Sofia, if he comes to me I'll deny I saw you last night, no one except the seagulls saw us. Keep me informed, and delete our messages just in case" he texted back.
Sofia knew he was right, her boyfriend couldn't be sure of anything, he could be suspicious but had nothing on them, and that was their farewell night, they deserved it, they earned it, and it was embedded in her memories forever, did it mean the same for Pedro?
She went to bed but she couldn't sleep either. Her brain was in turmoil, she had a tough day ahead, she got out of bed and noticed her mom was making her breakfast.
"Hi Sofia, I was going to take you breakfast in bed, I guessed you were not going to sleep anyway."
"Thanks mum, you know me so well, I'm so hungry."
"I guess you should start to eat a lemon," said her mother with a light smile.
"What? No! Why?" Sofia answered, very confused.
"To wipe that satisfaction grim out of your face, get yourself together before you meet your boyfriend, the official one," her mum said with a wide grin.
They shared a smirk and hugged.
"It was so perfect mum, why did I make all these bad decisions?"
"You are a woman now, you are responsible for your decisions."
"Mum, not you too please..."
"What?" replied her mum without realizing what was happening.
"Nothing, long night, forget it. You are right, I'll have to take responsibility for my actions and learn from my mistakes, Pedro will be studying abroad for the next few years. I think he opted for that to be far away from me, and that's one more thing I feel responsible for. He would be so much happier if he didn't ever meet me."
"I don't know that, above all you have a really good friend for life, don't ruin that," her mum replied, now with a more serious tone.
"I've already ruined that, Samuel won't let me even speak to him or see him, how can I have a wedding when I can't invite my best friend?"
"You have more than a year until then, I'm sure you will find a solution, I can't conceive your wedding without Pedro to support you. If you can't invite him I will, I'm the bride's mother, I can invite my close friends."
Pedro was getting ready to lunch with his parents when his phone rang, it was Sofia.
"Hi love, I had reasons to suspect my friends, one of them told him yesterday was your birthday, and he's very suspicious of my sudden indisposition, of course I denied it but you should be careful."
"Hi little one, don't worry about me, take care of yourself, it's you I'm worried about."
"Don't be, he wouldn't do anything to me," Sofia replied, assuring him.
"He's very unstable, I don't trust him, I don't really know what you see in him..." he said, worried.
"Don't go there, we had this talk before."
"Yeah, but..." he tried to interrupt her.
"I know it, but this isn't changing, last night was magic, I'll take this memory all my life as the perfect night, hope it will be the same for you."
"I don't know, I had better nights, my last girlfriend did anal you know..." he replied sarcastically.
"Only you would make a joke in the middle of this conversation..."
"Hey, it's not a joke, and she usually brings her girlfriend too, threesomes are my favorites these days."
"I love you Pedro, my parents are waiting for me for lunch, love you, you fool."
"Love you more, bye, be careful little one," he replied, not knowing when they would speak again.
