The Ride of My Life with My Cowboy
It has been a particularly tough academic year for Sophia, a psychology professor at York University. She is suffering from burnout. She decides to escape this extremely brutal Toronto winter by taking a trip to Central America.
Sophia is now at the airport, her flight delayed a couple of hours because of an incoming snowstorm. As it is announced that her flight is delayed even more, she begins reflecting on a dream she had a couple of weeks ago.
In her dream she is standing on a grassy slope. A black stallion is racing toward her. She is afraid because she thinks it is going to run her over, but then she notices a black steam engine and passenger cars racing along the tracks headed perhaps toward the west in the valley below. Then she starts to worry that if the horse continues on its current course it will be run over by the train. She tries to stand between the horse and the train to protect the horse. The horse comes to a stop in front of her. They lock eyes and come to an understanding. Sophia knows she has a very powerful masculine side. In her mind the black stallion represents an instinctive phallic energy within her.
The drive from the airport in Costa Rica to her fancy five-star resort takes over three hours, and all the tourists on the minibus are hungry, thirsty and grumpy upon arrival late that night.
As she is travelling alone Sophia feels she sticks out like a sore thumb. At the resort, the other guests all decades older than her centre their discussions around topics like their knee and hip replacements.
Sámara Beach is a stunning white sand beach and she swims many hours a day in the azure crystal clean waters. She enjoys watching the pelicans dive for fish, tucking their long wings back so their bodies narrow into a clean plundging shape. The pelicans knive into the ocean at high speeds. After a few days she notices a handsome horseman who comes by every day with half a dozen horses from the far end of the beach. Sophia approaches the man and asks about the possibility of riding. Walter says he offers a one-hour sunset excursion. She is up for the ride.
The next day Sophia finds herself on a white mare named Jennifer. The black stallion becomes a distant memory. There are many people in the group, several wanting to ride really fast. She is content to ride slowly and embrace the magic of the setting sun.
Walter invites her to join him later that night on the beach for a drink at a little bonfire. She is very excited by this invitation and she finds herself becoming wet. As he had asked her what she likes to drink, he is waiting for her with a small bottle of rum and some limes. Walter and Sophia begin to hug and caress each other slowly. They walk to a more secluded spot on the beach. They are now under some tall bushes, they start to kiss. He pushes his hands under her skirt and finds out how wet she is for him. He rubs against her while they are still fully clothed. He stands behind her grinding slowly which really relaxes her. They take a break and talk about intimate personal things. Walter reveals that his last Canadian girlfriend was a cocaine addict. This girlfriend left him neglected. Her mood swings, anxiety and emotional numbness took a toll on Walter. The emotional residue of the relationship leaves him feeling empty. Sophia decides then and there that she would be all in emotionally for him. Sophia is an intellectually sharp woman currently starved for a raw embodied connection.
Walter is frustrated by some kayakers heading out at night with very bright head lamps. He says to her, "It is a full moon. The full moon offers enough light." Sophia feels the same - the full moon bathes them in its intimate light -- a silver breath upon the sighing shore.
Walter wants her to lie down with him on the cool dry sand. Sophia is not yet ready to go all the way. They do continue to touch each other while standing for a very long time. Walter says he can take her for a private tour of a hidden waterfall in a couple of days, it's a date.
Walter picks her up at her hotel that morning. They both ride white mares north along Playa Sámara. They turn inland at the end of the beach along what is a tsunami evacuation road. It is a very peaceful ride. Sophia is happy Walter is in charge. She hopes he can take charge of her sexually. They ride along a paved road with many cars and find the path to the waterfall. The trail leads to a dried-out riverbed. After a long ride they dismount and walk a short distance to the waterfall. There is a very large pool at the bottom of the falls. Walter takes his clothes off but keeps his underwear on and dives into the pool. Sophia is in her bikini. Walter gets out and helps Sophia in the pool. The water is cool on her very sweaty, fevered skin. Walter is standing on the rocks now and asks her to take off her bikini and swim naked in the pool as he watches. She complies.
After she swims back to the rocks. Sophia sits on some rocks that are slightly submerged. Walter reenters the water, spreads her legs wide and begins licking her. Sophia is very aroused between the water lapping her and Walter's tongue exploring her. He now enters her deep with his thick caloused fingers. He massages her with a rhythmic motion that suits her. While he is penetrating her body she is penetrating his mind. The intimacy lasts a long time. Unfortunately she becomes cool and asks Walter to help her out of the water. They now stand on the rocks touching each other. Walter again does not allow her to touch him very much. He says, "It is all about your pleasure, your needs." After a while though he stands behind her, bending her over slightly, rubbing against her and entering her from behind. He still does not let her see him or touch him. He is satisfied with being hidden. She feels him ejaculate in her and shake. She wraps herself in a towel. They sit on the rocks kissing and caressing each other. She discovers a rose tattoo on his left arm dedicated to his mother. She strokes his arm for a very long time. They did it backwards, intercourse before, deep romantic kisses later. Sophia and Walter are now revealing their vulnerability to each other. She could feel herself expanding and engulfing him in her expansion.
At this moment he gives her his most prized possession, his necklace. She says she is ready to leave, but she regrets this later as she does not realize she is experiencing magic.
On the ride back they stop to see some howler monkeys high up in the trees being watched by some Canadian tourists.
Sophia is torn between returning to see him in Costa Rica next year or manifesting a woman for him - that was more available, that would really love him properly and enjoy his sexual charms. Especially his thick calloused fingers. Surely it is a dream, the tender intimacy they shared.
