Delicious Descent Ch. 03

Wednesday morning arrived thick with Texas heat, the kind that made the air feel heavy. It was a few minutes after nine o-clock when Olivia crossed the alley with a few cleaning supplies in a small caddy--loose blue tank top over a black sports bra and yoga shorts, hair in a loose ponytail that bounced with each step. A nervousness hovered inside her chest, unsure of what to expect from Frank after last night's... display. She pushed it aside as she stepped through the open garage door.

Frank was in the garage, hard at work on a partially disassembled V-twin engine. Grease was streaked across one of his forearms as he slowly pulled on a torque wrench, coaxing out its deliberate click. A dingy white T-shirt stretched across his broad back.

"Morning, Frank," she called, keeping her voice light and friendly. "Back for Round Two."

He barely lifted his head. "Morning. Doors open." His eyes stayed glued to the engine. No smile. Not even a glance. Nothing.

She hesitated. That 's... odd. After last night.

"All right," she slowly drew out. "I'll get to it."

She shook it off and headed upstairs. The apartment already looked a hell of a lot better than it had yesterday morning. Counters mostly cleared, the worst of the dust gone, sink no longer wearing the crust left behind by hard water. She had made real progress in one day. She should have felt satisfied.

Instead a restless knot sat low in her stomach.

She set the caddy down, put her earbuds in, filled the sink with hot soapy water, and attacked the dishes that had accumulated overnight. Scrub, rinse, set aside. The motions were automatic, but her head refused to quiet.

He saw me... right?

She replayed the sequence in her mind. Curtains parted just enough. Lamplight spilling out. Her body on full display. No way he missed it. He was right there at the workbench.

She dried a coffee mug with sharp twists of the towel, stepped back from the sink and paused. Her eyes glanced toward the window that overlooked the alley and her own bedroom across the way. The distance felt even smaller in the daylight.

It's right there.

She kneeled down to start on the baseboards, rag moving in tight, deliberate strokes, knees pressing into the worn carpet. Her confusion turned sharper, growing into something close to irritation. It twisted tighter as she worked, unconsciously scrubbing harder than was necessary.

No glance. Not a single comment. Not even the smallest sign.

It gnawed at her. She told herself a decent man would assume it was an accident and pretend not to have seen anything. Play the polite neighbor. Keep things normal. But it just didn't sit right with her. At all. The conservative voice in her head -- the one shaped in Catholic school hallways and by her mother's quiet expectations -- sounded loudly.

God, Liv, listen to yourself. She sat back on her heels, rag dangling from her fingers. You did something to excite your husband and now you 're bothered the old biker didn't leer at you this morning?

Yet the absence of any reaction left her... unsettled. Off-balance. She had felt desired last night. Powerful. The kind of electric rush her social media posts never quite delivered, no matter how many likes rolled in. And now Frank acted like nothing happened.

She attacked the next section of baseboard with fresh force. The lemon cleaner burned her nostrils. Sweat gathered at the small of her back under the loose tank top. Every scrub sent her mind spinning back to the same question.

Just then, her ringtone played in her earbuds, cutting through the music. Amanda's name lit up the screen -- her best friend from back home in Louisville. Olivia sat back on her heels, relieved for the interruption, and answered quickly. "Hey you! Perfect timing. I needed a distraction."

Down in the garage Frank kept his head down, listening to her move around in the apartment above him, a satisfied smile on his rugged face. He'd caught the tiny hesitation, the tension lifting her shoulders before she'd turned to head upstairs. Girls like Olivia lived on attention. Validation. The pretty ones who'd spent their whole lives being looked at--cheerleader, influencer, pretty young wife--they needed it like air. It gave them life. Give it too easy and they take it for granted. Withhold it--especially on the heels of the high she must have felt after her little show--and they'd chase after it. So he'd pull back, starve her of any reaction for now. Let the hunger build on its own.

By mid afternoon Olivia had reached a good stopping point. There were a few small things to wrap up, but she could knock them out in the morning. The place smelled strongly of lemon cleaner again, grout lines finally starting to brighten. She gathered her things, headed downstairs, and poked her head into the garage.

"Hey, I'm finished up there for the day. Just a couple little things left. I'll pop over in the morning and take care of it."

Frank glanced up--just long enough for a quick, polite smile. "Sounds good. Appreciate it, Olivia." His eyes dropped right back to the bike.

She waited half a second.Seriously? Still nothing?

With a slow turn she started back across the alley feeling strangely hollow, deflated.

Just as she reached for the gate latch, Olivia heard tires crunching on the asphalt behind her. A sleek black Mercedes SUV slowed, then stopped. The window slid down.

Michelle leaned out, sunglasses perched in her dark hair, that sly, knowing curve already playing on her lips. Her gaze flicked from Olivia's flushed face to Frank's open garage, then back again. One eyebrow arched, slow and mischievous.

"So... how's the big-dick neighbor treating you?" she whispered, voice low and teasing, biting her bottom lip like they shared the juiciest secret.

Olivia's stomach dropped. Heat flooded her cheeks in an instant. "Michelle! God, no -- it's not like that at all." The words tumbled out too fast. "Our washer flooded Monday. He fixed it in like ten minutes but wouldn't let me pay him, so I offered to clean his place up. Just returning a favor."

Michelle's laugh was warm. "Mmm-hmm. Sure, honey. Don't worry--your secret's safe with me." She teased with a wink. "Talk to you later, girl."

The window slid up smoothly as the Mercedes pulled away, leaving only the faint scent of leather and Michelle's expensive perfume lingering in the still air.

Olivia stood frozen at the gate, heart hammering against her ribs.Shit. Michelle's teasing made the whole situation feel... dirty. Visible. Like neighborhood eyes were watching. She could already picture the whispers, the sideways glances at the next block party. Her social media feed flashed in her mind -- carefully curated images of her life, their happy marriage, the polished suburban dream.

God, Liv, get a grip.

She shook her head hard, exhaled through an embarrassed grin, and forced her feet toward the back door.

--------------------

Evening brought a cool, gentle breeze that actually felt good for once. Olivia carried a glass of Cakebread Cabernet out to the back porch. She settled into the loveseat and snapped a few casual photos--wine glass catching the sunset, bare legs stretched out, pool shimmering beyond--for tomorrow's content. The Golden Hour light was perfect. She scrolled Instagram out of habit while she sipped. The wine was smooth, familiar--her little treat.

Her phone buzzed, Steve calling on FaceTime.

"Hey, gorgeous." He was in his hotel room, tie gone, sleeves rolled. "How was your day?"

"Good. I spent a few more hours working on Frank's apartment. It's almost done. Just a couple things left to finish tomorrow morning."

They fell into their usually daily check-in--his long day of meetings, her content plans, the difference is weather between New York and Texas. Then movement beyond the fence line caught her eye. Frank was standing just outside of the garage, casual as if he'd only stepped outside for some air. He glanced her way and started walking toward the fence in his usual unhurried way.

"Frank's walking over," she whispered discreetly to her phone.

Steve smiled and pretended to slide a zipper across his lips.

Frank leaned his broad frame down on the fence. "Nice evening for a drink outside."

"It is," she answered with a smile, keeping her voice light. "Unfortunately I only had enough wine left for one glass, so it'll be short-lived."

He nodded his head back toward his apartment. "I've got a bottle upstairs. It's not the fancy stuff you drink, but it's better than nothing if you're up for a little company."

Olivia hesitated and quickly glanced down at her phone. Steve's face filled the screen--eyes wide, already nodding up and down, mouth silently forming the word "YES" over and over.

Oh my God, Steve.

She turned back to Frank with a smile. "Sure. Sounds great."

Frank smiled with a nod. "Be right back."

The second he was out of earshot Olivia turned back to her phone. "Steve, you can't be serious."

His grin was pure mischief. "Dead serious, babe. Flirt with him. See if he'll go for a kiss again."

"Steve, I--"

"Mute me and flip the camera, set it up somewhere. Inconspicuous. I want to watch."

Her stomach flipped--nerves and something tingly twisting together. She stared at him another long beat, cheeks burning.

"Fine, but listen. If he tries to go further than a kiss, you hang up and call right back. Phone rings and I have an out. Promise me."

"For sure, I promise," he swore.

Olivia rolled her eyes with a small smile, "Geez, you better be glad I love you so much."

He replied with a wide grin and a wink.

She hit mute, switched to the rear camera, propped the phone against a potted plant on the table in front of her, and waited. She tried to ignore the tension building in her chest and shoulders, to act natural, but every move she made felt uncomfortable and awkward. Finally, the gate creaked as Frank pushed past it, an open bottle of red in one hand and a couple of cold Shiners for himself in the other.

He settled onto the loveseat next to her, close--knee almost brushing hers--but not too close. He filled her now empty glass and they settled into a comfortable conversation. He asked questions about her influencer work, genuinely interested in how she actually made money from just taking pictures and videos. She asked about the motorcycles he worked on, and he told a funny story about a customer who paid him in barbecue.

The conversation drifted easily for a while. Then Frank asked, curiosity clear in his voice, "So how did you and Steve end up here in Austin anyway? You definitely don't sound like a Texan."

Olivia laughed softly. "No, definitely not. Steve's originally from here but I grew up just outside Louisville, Kentucky. We actually met at a University of Louisville football game tailgate when I was in my sophomore year there -- he was doing post-grad work. We hit it off, started dating, then got married a few years later after I graduated. While I was still in school, he worked for a firm in Louisville that mostly did warehouse and apartment complex projects. Then this opportunity here came up for him doing bigger stuff, like the high-rise in New York, so we moved."

Frank nodded, clearly interested. "Big change. You miss Kentucky?"

"Sometimes," she admitted, a hint of wistfulness in her voice. "Most of my family and friends are there, and I miss the change of seasons. But Austin has been good so far. The energy here is different. I really like the vibe. And Steve's excited about the work, even if it means he's traveling a lot right now."

Frank took a slow pull from his Shiner, then set the bottle on the table with a soft clink. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, looking out at the pool.

"That's gotta be tough. Being in a new place. Everyone you know back in Kentucky, Steve gone a lot of the time."

"Yeah, it's been an adjustment," she answered with a soft, honest laugh. "But I fill the day--work, content, errands, whatever--but yeah."

Frank nodded, his expression understanding. "I know exactly what you mean. After the accident, I thought staying busy would help. Turns out busy just made the quiet hit harder when I finally did slow down."

She felt that land somewhere soft. She took a sip of wine and nodded.

Steve, watching from the muted phone, felt a strange twist in his chest. Olivia was playing along... but she was playing along well. Her face was soft, eyes on Frank, the way she always looked when she was actually hearing someone. It wasn't jealousy, but he couldn't quite name it. His cock stirred in his slacks anyway. He kept watching, heart thudding, waiting for whatever came next.

Olivia looked down at her glass again, fingers sliding along the stem. She could feel the warmth of the wine spreading through her chest. She thought about Steve's FaceTime calls, the way his face filled the screen but couldn't fill the space once it ended.

"I... I guess I hadn't really consciously noticed it until it was said out loud," she admitted, glancing up at him. "That quietness."

"Yeah," Frank leaned back again, relaxed. "That's usually how it works."

He took another slow pull from his Shiner, then settled deeper into the seat, letting the silence stretch a bit. After a moment, he reached over and lightly touched the back of her hand--just the back of his knuckles grazing the top of her hand where it rested on the cushion. Gone in a breath. But enough to get her attention.

"You know," he said, voice low and easy, "it's funny how the best evenings are the ones you don't plan. Just sitting outside, enjoying a drink, good conversation... it feels nice." He glanced at her, not lingering, just enough to catch her eye. "I'm glad you said yes earlier. I was half expecting you to wave me off."

Olivia recognized that he might be starting in the direction Steve had hoped he would. She smiled, a little nervous, twirling the stem of her glass. "I almost did. But... it's nice out here. And yeah, the company's not bad either."

"Well, I'm always just right across the alley."

"Yeah. I might have to take advantage of that sometime," she said, voice light but deliberate, playing the part Steve had asked her to--flirty, open. She met his eyes, not looking away. Something shifted in the quiet. Not dramatic. Just a small opening. She smiled, softly, and leaned forward a fraction.

Frank's gaze dropped to her mouth for half a second, then back up. "Careful," he murmured, the corner of his mouth lifting. "I might hold you to it."

The space between them felt smaller now, heavier. Frank's eyes darkened, just a shade. Then he moved. Slow. Sure. One rough hand cupped her cheek, his mouth found hers--gentle at first, careful, testing. The faint taste of beer mixed with something earthier -- salt, skin, the day's work still clinging to him. Olivia froze for half a second, conservative instincts screaming --You're married! This is wrong!-- but she pushed it down.

Steve wanted to see this, she reminded herself.Make it good for him.

She relaxed into it, kissed him back, lips parting just enough to let him in.

Their tongues met, tentative, then bolder. Wet sounds filled the small space between them, soft and intimate in the dark. His beard scraped her chin, a rough drag that sent heat racing down her neck and straight between her legs. It felt so different than Steve's smooth face and kisses. This felt raw. Unpolished.

Frank's free hand settled on her waist, fingers spreading wide, pulling her closer without hurry. A soft, breathy gasp escaped her chest, he answered by sucking gently on her lower lip, coaxing her mouth open wider. Their tongues slid deeper, exploring, hungrier now. Breath quickened.

Steve watched on the tiny screen, heart hammering in his chest.

Holy shit, she 's actually doing it.

His cock throbbed painfully in his hand as he stroked it slowly. Seeing Olivia kiss another man -- especially someone like Frank -- should have felt wrong. Instead it lit a dark, raging fire in him.

So fucking hot.

He didn't reach for the phone to interrupt. He couldn't. Not yet. He wanted to see more.

Frank felt her respond--small tilt of her head, the way her tongue met his halfway. That 's it. He kept the pace steady, not rushing, letting her chase it a little. His hand on her waist tightened, thumb stroking the bare skin just under the hem of her top. She breathed a low, involuntary moan into his mouth, barely audible over the crickets.

Tongues sliding, breath mingling, Olivia's pulse raced. Frank pulled gently on her waist again. Without thinking she swung one leg over and straddled him on the loveseat. Her thighs settled against the solid bulk of him, thin yoga shorts riding up. The new position pressed her clit firmly against an unmistakable hardness straining in his jeans.

The sudden pressure hit her with a jolt.

Jesus. That can 't be... him.

It felt far too substantial. Too wide. Michelle's words flashed through her head again --very gifted... and knows how to use it.The memory of the Magnum XL box on his nightstand hit harder now. A flicker of startled curiosity cut through the shock.

She rocked her hips forward once, experimentally -- just a small, testing shift -- and felt the solid thickness push against her through the thin fabric. Heat bloomed fast and deep in her stomach.

Steve 's watching... he's seeing all of this. The thought sent a sharp, intoxicating thrill through her.I want to look good for him. I want him to see how bad I can be for him.

Steve's hand moved faster in his hotel room, eyes glued to the tiny screen. The sight of Olivia straddling Frank hit him like a punch -- equal parts shock and raw arousal.

Goddamn...

A quick flicker of unease twisted in his gut for half a second, then vanished beneath a fresh wave of heat. He couldn't look away. The wrongness of the whole situation, the sheer taboo of what he was seeing, only made him throb harder.

Frank's hands roamed higher, sliding under the loose tank top, tracing the smooth line of her back before gripping her hips. He rocked up slowly, deliberately pressing himself against her. The friction sent a sharp shot of pleasure through her body that made her breath seize. The sensation was intense. Her body responded on its own, growing slick and warm against the firm pressure, shame crashing into a hot rush.

Frank broke the kiss and trailed his mouth along her jaw -- open, wet kisses -- until he found the sensitive spot just below her ear. Beard scraping tender skin. Lips sucking lightly. Then lower, across her throat, tasting her racing pulse. One broad hand grabbed the strap of her tank top and bra, pulling them off her shoulder.

As the straps slid away, the cool night air hit her previously covered bare skin and her mind flashed -- clear and jarring -- to the reality of what was happening: flushed, breathless, straddling and kissing another man on her own back porch. It hit her like cold water. This wasn't just flirting. This wasn't just a kiss. This was way too much.

Oh fuck!

She pushed at Frank's shoulders, chest heaving.

"Frank--wait. We can't. This is... it's too much. I'm sorry. It's wrong."

He released her instantly, hands gentle, apologetic mask sliding into place. "No, you're right. I got caught up... I got carried away. I'm sorry."

She shook her head, still trying to steady her breathing. "No, it's not just on you. It's my fault too."

Frank steadied her as she climbed off his lap and pulled the straps back onto her shoulder, then he stood.

"Listen, thank you for the company tonight. Really. Means more than you know." Frank adjusted himself discreetly, gathered his empty beer bottles, and turned to head home out the back gate.
