It almost felt like a cosmic joke.

Shelly stared up at the sky that had decided to open and let out all its frustration. Her thin pink dress completely soaked through, clinging to her body. Lightning streaked across the sky and all she could ask herself was why did she leave the house today. Her grandmother had warned her against going out, but Shelly just had to go out and get the fruit she was craving.

*It would only take ten minutes. She'd be back before the chimes struck 11am. She'd...*

A sigh left her lips as she clutched the small bag of cherries and began walking back home. No point in rushing when she was already soaked to the bone. The thunder was a low rumble, and the lightning was nothing more than flashes as the downpour continued. She'd be lucky not to have a cold or a fever the next day.

Speaking of the day...

Shelly frowned as she thought of the stories from her family. It hadn't been the craving for cherries that had woken her up so early on April 1st. No, it had been the sound of a crow in the distance. One sharp cry and then nothing. Her grandmother used to tell her that the crow was the first sign.

A simple statement that every woman in her family heard growing up, half warning, half joke. It was mentioned during cleaning, randomly during birthdays, and whispered when the younger girls started asking why their mothers always seemed uneasy each hour that passed on March 31st.

"Every April 1st," her grandmother would begin, the smile never reaching her eyes. "one of us will disappear."

It was a joke and only for one night...

...except for those special few.

For a few of the women in the family, the 'joke' lasted a little too long. They'd appear later, if they ever appeared again. Shelly could remember the prank that happened to her mother when she was only eleven. She hadn't seen her mother again until March 31st of the next year, wearing a smile that contorted her face in such a strange way. The image had been burned into her mind, especially when her mother came over to her, the smile never dropping, and hugged her tightly while laughing hysterically.

She'd never received such a painful hug from her mother before or after that. It would be one of the last days that she ever laid eyes upon the woman. That night, as another one of the family had gone missing, her mother had been caught trying to stab her in her sleep. A few hours later, she'd been taken to an institution for those with mental issues.

Shelly had asked what on earth had happened to her mother, but she was brushed off.

"It was just a trick."

"She took it too seriously."

"No worries. Just a foolish little family superstition."

"Ah, your mother might not have been able to handle the joke. It's alright."

None of them seemed to laugh very hard at this supposed prank.

To Shelly, it didn't seem alright. In fact, she had just lost her mother to whatever had happened to her before now. A joke should be funny so why was no one celebrating. The very next year, Shelly watched her elder sister, six years her senior, on determined to follow where she went since it was her 'turn'.

The entire thing had been strange. Her sister had woken up with a craving for peaches. Thankfully, they had recently purchased them, and she sat with her sister in their kitchen slicing up the fruit. Her sister slowly snacked on the bowl of sliced peaches when she suddenly stopped. Suddenly, the wind blew open their kitchen window with a sharp crack, even though nothing else moved. She still remembered the way the curtains lifted and the way her sister seemed to smile serenely.

"It's time, isn't it?" her sister whispered.

Then she disappeared.

Shelly tried to follow, but the back door was still locked. She ran to her grandmother and aunt to get some help, but both women just told her to calm down, her sister would be back soon. Shelly remained frantic for the rest of the day into the evening before her grandmother had given her a calming tea. No matter how long she tried to fight against the calming properties of the tea, she lost the battle.

Her sister had returned the next morning at dawn, walking barefoot down the walkway to their house. She didn't smile as scarily as their mother had but had a softer look on her face. Her hair was tangled with leaves that she had never seen in her life, and a faint, twisted, red mark circled her wrist like a bracelet. There was a brightness in her eyes that seemed so strange, so distant. She didn't stop to say anything to Shelly as she went to her room and slept.

As she had stared at that spot, she overheard her grandmother whisper to her aunt. "At least she came back..."

The next year had been no different. No one came back changed the way her mother did and most of them came back. Shelly had begun to convince herself that the story was nonsense. Coincidences. Hysteria. Whatever you wanted to call it.

All until last year.

Last year, her favorite cousin Moira was up next. Her aunt's youngest daughter, only a year older than Shelly herself.

Both her and Moira had laughed about it the day before, trying to ease the other's nerves.

"Maybe it'll skip me," she said, sipping on the fresh made apple cider as midnight approached. "Maybe he's bored of us by now."

"Who's he?" Shelly asked.

Before she could get an answer, a strange breeze brushed past them. Moira frowned. "He's early," she whispered to herself.

No one stopped her.

They couldn't have even if they tried.

Now it was her turn.

"My turn...," Shelly murmured to herself as she continued on her path home. There was only one difference between everyone else and her.

First, she wasn't home. Second? Whatever it was hadn't appeared yet. Moira was taken at midnight. Her mother by breakfast. Her sister, before the first full rays of the sun shone through the window. However, here she was, outside and soaked, and it was nearly 10:15 when she left the shop. Was she lucky enough to avoid whatever had been plaguing her family for generations?

As if on cue, the wind blew past her.

Shelly froze in her spot. She felt the presence before she saw it.

"I like cherries, but I knew you'd pick something I'd like."

The voice sounded older, not like an older gentleman, but something ancient. She turned her head slowly to see the imposing figure of a man just taking her in. His eyes were bright, mischievous.

At first, Shelly wasn't sure what to say. All she knew was that this was no ordinary man. "You're late." The moment the words left her mouth, she felt embarrassed. What did that even mean? Why did she say that?

Laughter followed her statement as the being shook his head. "I've heard many things, but never that," he told her. "I hope you're ready."

Without a word, Shelly found herself in a field. A few flowers grew here and there, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Well, nothing too out of the ordinary. Her dress was now dry and the man from early sat on a throne of vines and flowers, holding her bag of cherries. "All you need to do is come here and get your cherries. If you manage to get here in a short amount of time, I'll even toss in an extra treat."

"Wait? I just have to walk over to you and get them?" Shelly asked confused.

The man smiled. "Yes. That is all you have to do. After that, home is on the horizon."

Shelly blinked. What about this had driven her mother crazy? All she had to do was walk over there, get her cherries, and then go home. What kind of prank was this? How did the women in her family go back all bright-eyed if they only spent a few minutes in this place?

"Are you ready?" he asked her.

Shelly didn't understand why his smile still held an air of mischievousness to it. "Yes."

"Begin."

Shaking her head and mentally cursing her family for making her afraid, she started to walk towards the man. She made it about 15 steps before she realized she was no closer than before. An illusion?

Shelly broke into a run, before something tripped her. She looked back to see a root that was partially raised out of the ground, and shook her head, reminding herself to pay more attention. "I just need to get my cherries," she whispered to herself and went to push up from the ground. She brushed herself off and started to run again before being tripped by another root.

"What?"

This time, she felt something wrap around her ankle and pull her back. Letting out a surprised shriek, she turned and started trying to pull the vine from her ankle. "What the hell is this?"

Shelly fought against the vine, trying to pull it off, even as it seemed thorny flowers on the sides of her were slicing through the thin fabric of her dress. Finally, she managed to free her ankle, or so she thought, as she pulled away and got up and ran towards the man. She got a lot closer before she found herself unable to move again. Looking around, she tried to find the problem. The first vine had been a bit of a struggle, but she didn't see any vines wrapped around her ankle. Now, she was getting frustrated. "Is this some kind of trick?"

"Is it," the man asked tilting his head to the side. The shoulder-length, long brown hair brushing his shoulder. His dark eyes seemed to look straight through her, as he took her in.

She felt exposed and not because of her torn clothing. A quick breeze blew past her, yet her brown skin wasn't covered in goosebumps. "Why can't I move?!" The strength of the demand coming from encroaching fear as opposed to anger. "What the hell is going on, creature?"

A frown appeared on the man's face. "I have a name. The others at least had the decency to ask it. I'm the trickster god known as Susanoo-no-Mikoto, but that's a mouthful, isn't it? Call me Takahiro or Taka, I suppose. Also, you forgot the root..." The smile was back on the man's face.

Shelly bit her lip. She had heard that name before... wasn't he a trickster go-... oh. Oh no. "Forgot the root," she asked with the fear now taking a stronger hold. Looking around, Shelly couldn't find any root and started retracing her steps. The less time that she was here, the better. Everything was starting to make a lot more sense. Her mother coming back unhinged. Her other family claiming this was a prank. Even her sister coming back with a smile and bright eyes. He had done something to them, and he would do it to her if she couldn't escape and get her cherries fast enough.

Not seeing a root, she tried to lift her foot, losing her balance, and falling back on her ass. She saw it then, a piece of green vine stuck to the bottom of her shoe that was now keep her rooted to the ground. All she had to do was pull it free and then-

"It's time."

"Time for what?!"

A hint of panic slipped into her voice as she reached for the root, only to realize her wrists were now tied with similar vines. She tried to yank her arms towards her and pulled at them as harshly as possible. "No. This can't be happening." She fought harder, feeling one come around her neck and pull her backwards to the ground. Her arms were made to move above her head. Vines wrapped around her ankles spreading her legs.

"Look up," Takahiro suggested, sounding much closer.

Shelly looked up, only to see a mirror image of herself.

"It's a neat trick. You'll see everything." The man sounded excited at the idea of it.

She went to look away, not wanting to give him the satisfaction, but then she saw it. Larger vines with thick, bulbous heads coming towards her. Shelly didn't have time to scream as one of them immediately entered her mouth. The thickness making her choke a little as it moved in and out of her mouth, coating it with a sticky, sap like substance. It pulled out, covering her lips, and then dove back into her mouth, no regard for her need to breathe, and she could see it all.

There was something arousing in watching herself be forced to give this thing a blowjob, but it still wasn't enough to prepare her as she watched smaller ones, grab hold of her underwear and rip them off. Her instincts were to cover herself and yet the vines around her wrist grew tighter with each attempt. Her bottom was raised up on a small mound of earth, and another vine, covered in the same sticky sap like substance pushed unceremoniously into her ass.

She screamed then.

Yet, the sound was strangled gurgling as pain shot through her body. Shelly twisted and turned trying to escape the feeling. Tears formed in her eyes as she internally begged for it to stop. Both of the vines seemed to move in and out at opposite times and with different rhythms. She didn't give up. Her tongue began trying to push the vine from her mouth out. She did her best to try and squeeze the vine fucking her ass out, but it seemed to just get bigger as if laughing at her attempts.

Terror filled her eyes when she saw another one, larger than the previous two, aimed straight for the only 'hole' she had left. It looked too large for her, especially considering she'd never had anything larger than her own finger or two inside of her. The sap like substance dripped on to her and her tears felt like they were coming faster.

Then it stopped.

The trickster came over to her with an appreciative glint in his eyes. "A virgin? Your grandmother is one crazy woman, isn't she? How did she manage to let you stay a virgin before coming to me?"

That large vine moved away, only to be replaced with the trickster staring down at her sap covered mound. Shelly stared up at her reflection and watched him as he bent down, thoughts of being bitten and other horrors filling her mind, before she saw him lick her. His tongue slipped between her nether lips, circling and teasing her clit with slow movements, as the vine from her mouth moved away and allowed her to make every noise unobstructed.

Watching and feeling it at the same time had her forgetting that the vine in her ass was still thrusting away as pleasure took over the pain.

Takahiro stopped a moment. "Shall we play a game? If you keep watching and don't close your eyes when you finish, then I'll let you go. If you do close your eyes...." He said nothing more as his smile widened further.

"I just have to watch and not close my eyes?" she asked.

"That's it." Takahiro told her, brightness coloring his voice.

Shelly thought about it. She could escape this still. "Yes."

The next sound that left her lips was a louder moan as the trickster once again began pleasuring her with his mouth. She gasped, body trying to press harder against his mouth, but she was kept firmly in place. Shelly watched two smaller vines come up, sliding into the top of her dress. "Oh god..." she called out as she felt the vines rub against her nipples.

His low chuckle against her sent more shockwaves of pleasure rushing through her, still Shelly watched even as the feeling of pleasure built up within her.

Three seconds.

Two seconds.

One...

Shelly came harder than she ever had playing with herself. The vine within her ass shooting its sticky substance deep into her, and her body managing to arch despite the restraints. Her pleasure was short-lived when she realized she had indeed closed her eyes. The moment she opened them, Takahiro was already positioned to enter her. He looked as large as the vine he had been going to allow to take her earlier.

"Wai-"

She cried out louder than before when he entered her body. The pain was... non-existent? Shelly couldn't believe something like that could enter her body without any pain, but it had. Staring at the reflected image amazed at how well her body was taking him, she almost didn't realize when he started to move. Is this what her family members got to see when they were with him? Did it turn them on just as much to see how he could fit in their bodies?

Her pleasure heightened as she watched him tear away the remnants of her dress. The vines wrapped around her breasts teasing her nipples with their tips, covering them in the slimy substance that coated her mouth and the inside of her ass. It felt like she was meant for this moment. Shelly had never realized she could look this sexy.

It was building again, but this time felt like it would be so much.

"I think I'll keep you. Breed you." Takahiro told her.

In the haze of building pleasure, Shelly heard him and even as her body began reaching its heights again. No, she didn't want to be bred. The terror began rising, but so did her pleasure, as if her body was getting off on being terrified and unable to have a choice in this matter. "Please don't," she begged him but it came out as a moan as her body tightened around him.

Takahiro laughed and continued fucking her. When she came, he made sure to press as deeply as he could and came inside of her.

Shelly could barely focus after her last orgasm and moved her hand to wipe her eyes, only to realize that he must have freed her hands and ankles at some point. She went to sit up, only to realize he was still inside of her, rocking back and forth lightly. Her first instinct was to move away, but she was tired. Looking up at the reflection, she could feel her arousal coming back.

There were worse things than being bred by a god, right?

It didn't matter what she thought as he picked up the pace and once more began to fuck her, this time with no regards to her comfort.

***

Back at her home, the day came and went.

Another year passed. This time, no one was taken.

Shelly never returned.

Her grandmother smiled softly as she sat on the porch. It was the sixth April 1st since Shelly left. No more women disappeared on the first of April, not anymore.

Sacrificing her granddaughter had been the best decision she had ever made.
