This is a step away from my usual writing style and story genres. I have taken on the challenge to explore brave new ideas and "new worlds" by using Science Fiction. I included the use of AI, not to write this story, but as a character in it. In this episode, Adam claims his lottery winnings and in doing so finds a new friend in the process.

Adaptive -6- Fortune's Favor

Cindy greeted Jade with a smile as Jade opened the passenger side door and slid into the car. Neither said a word. Cindy put the car into gear and reversed out of the drive way and they were on their way to work. That is, until Cindy pulled over about a block from Jade's house. Puzzled, Jade turned to Cindy who had just put the car into park and turned to face her puzzled friend. The look in her eyes could have set an iceberg on fire.

Jade trembled as she looked into those smoldering eyes and it wasn't just her bottom lip that was trembling. In a flash they were lip to lip and inhaling one another's breath as hands sought out and found each other's soft bits and pieces.

"Oh, GOD! I've missed you!" Cindy exhaled between hungry nibbles and exploration with her tongue.

"Same!" Jade managed to breath between oral assaults by the larger blonde girl on a mission.

They groped and grasped and gasped and tasted one another for what seemed like an hour but in reality, it was only maybe a minute or two before both had to withdraw to catch their breath... eager happy if somewhat embarrassed smiles playing on their faces as they looked at each other intently. Both wished they didn't have to work that day, wished they could repeat their adventure from the previous day.

Cindy's brow furrowed a bit and she tilted her head ever so slightly to one side as she looked even deeper, if that were even possible, into Jade's eyes. She sensed something... different in her long-time best friend and now lover. Jade chewed her bottom lip and tilted her head a bit as well looking through her lashes with a touch of... what? Guilt?

"Cin... I... I have to tell you something." Jade began quietly, hesitant to just blurt out what she had to say.

"What?" Cindy asked almost as hesitantly, thinking for even the briefest moment that Jade had changed her mind about this... whatever it was between them... even with the smaller girl's taste still on her tongue.

"I... We... Adam and I..." Jade began but closed her eyes as if changing her mind, but in reality, to gather her thoughts to put them into words. The pause however still set Cindy's heart to racing.

"You... what?" Cindy prodded verbally, her eyebrows relaxing or at least climbing a bit out of the worried furrow they had been moments before.

"We... did it." Jade said meekly, wondering how Cindy was going to react to this revelation, would she be jealous?

"Did what?" Cindy asked with a hint of confusion... then it dawned on her. Past conversations about her "friend" online, and the realization that that "friend" had actually been Adam...

Cindy's eyebrows both shot up in surprise, her mouth fell slack for a moment as her eyes got very wide. Then she inhaled a long breath and she hunched forward a bit closer to Jade who was looking on with what had to be trepidation. Cindy actually giggled conspiratorially, her eyes squinting and her cute button nose scrunching up as her hands found both of Jade's and squeezed them excitedly.

"JADE!!!! YOU DID NOT!" Cindy exclaimed and bit her entire bottom lip as she waited for more.

"We DID!" Jade finally squealed and giggled too.

"WELL???" Cindy asked... waiting for more.

"Oh! Cin! It was... it was... Soooo GOOD!" Jade said wistfully, her own eyebrows dancing and her entire body was practically vibrating.

"You have to tell me EVERYTHING!" Cindy gushed, then frowned and sighed and hung her head a little dejectedly. "It'll have to wait till we have more time though. We have to get to work or we're going to be late. BUT I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING!!!!" She resumed her giggle and wore a slightly jealous smile that was infectious.

"I'll tell you as you drive... well... parts of it anyway. You remember that girl we saw with Adam yesterday..." Jade began as Cindy turned and began driving once more, turning her head often to face Jade as the story unfolded.

... "That's when I decided NOT to wait... to just go for it!" Jade said as Cindy put the car into park after they had arrived at the Walk-In clinic.

"Oh Jade! I'm so fucking HOT right now... and WET! Stop right there. You can tell me the rest after work. Somewhere where we can be alone." Cindy said with a husky lust filled voice and an intense look in her eyes.

"Okay... but... I want to do more than just talk. I want YOU." Jade said in an equally lust tightened voice. They both smiled knowingly at one another and then got out of the car to walk inside and begin their work day.

Kyle Williams sat in the circle of folding chairs in a little used room at one end of the hospital. He wasn't alone, of course, seated with him were eight or nine... nine other different people, and one rather bored hospital coat. Kyle wasn't sure if this guy was a doctor, an assistant, or just some quack sitting in on this farce. The others? Well, it was an eclectic bunch. Men and women, of different ages and walks of life. Most looked as bored and aggravated as he himself felt at this moment. It was supposed to be a "support group". A place where all the participants opened up and admitted their cravings, addictions, fears, faults and reasons that they allegedly abuse of over used drink or drugs or other over indulgent habits. The only interesting thing that Kyle had heard so far was one girl... woman really, almost as old as his own mother, admit she was a sex addict.

This had caught Kyle's attention and curiosity until he actually looked up and saw what she looked like. Definitely NOT a MILF. He shuddered at the thought of seeing her naked let alone doing anything sexual with her. That's saying a LOT for Kyle too, as he would just about nail anything with a pulse and an inclination to fool around with him... and looked good. He had prided himself on always being able to convince those better-looking girls that he was that guy!

There had been others with other problems... some borderline alcoholics, a gambling addict, a kleptomaniac, one lady that for whatever reason ate cat food... UGH! Really? The sexaholic, a guy that was driven to take all of his clothes off in public restrooms and lay on the tile floors.... And then the circle had gotten around to himself. WHAT? Kyle thought to himself. This is so much bullshit!

"And what brought you here today, Kyle" The group leader asked, idly pushing his horned rimmed square framed glasses back up his nose with one hand as he looked at his clipboard for any notes about Kyle.

"I have no freakin' idea! I got a little drunk at a PARTY and ended up here at the hospital for no reason!" Kyle lamented sarcastically, leaning forward in his cheap folding chair, his elbows on his knees and his arms and hands hanging loosely between his legs as his head hung down resignedly.

"No idea? My notes say you were hysterical, claiming to have seen a..." the group leader held his clipboard a little closer to his face to read it clearly, "... a bigfoot." He finished, sounding more like a question than a statement. That got titters and a chuckle or two from other people in the group.

"I was DRUNK! It was probably a bear! I'm not crazy! I don't need to be here or take any crap from you people!" Kyle spit out his reply bitterly but held back as he realized that one of the requirements for his release from the hospital was participating in this group three times... this was the third and final time if he behaved himself.

"Right.... Well, whether it was a bear... or bigfoot... what do you think prompted you to... see... this thing?" the group leader continued, making a short note.

"I said I was drunk! Maybe I should have had something to eat along with the few bears I had. That was poor judgement, I will agree... But I'm NOT crazy!" Kyle practically growled.

"Maybe if he was hungry, he might not have seen Bigfoot... or a bear... He might have seen a giant... HOTDOG!" The woman who admitted to being addicted to eating cat food said with a titter in her voice.

Kyle's head came up and his glare shot daggers through the woman who had her mouth covered with one hand and the other was across her ample chest as she giggled. The rest of the group. Snickered a bit as well and even the group leader had a sardonic grin even as he reprimanded the rest of the group not to be judgmental.

"Now, now, group. We all know that Kyle slipped in the bathroom and hit his head. He hadn't actually seen any... monster wieners... that the orderlies said he was mumbling about.Now... Kyle, you say you are aware that you used poor judgment in perhaps over drinking on an empty stomach. That's very observant of you. Maybe next time you attend a... party... you will remember to eat something first." The group leader said to mollify both the group and Kyle in particular.

Kyle sat and listened to two other people's problems and the offered advice to them from the group leader and suggestions from other members of the group... then it was over. THANK GOD! The group was dismissed and Kyle practically bolted from the room. He found his father standing outside the discharge nurses' desk looking out a window while talking on his phone. Typical. Always talking to someone, anyone else, but his own son. Unless he had something for his son to do FOR HIM to make himself look good. Kyle knew not to interrupt his father though. So, he just stood, and waited. Eventually his father would either notice him or end his conversation.

*****

"So, I just need to bring my ticket to the office for verification then. Right?" Adam asked the person on the other end of the phone.

"Yes. Bring the original ticket, and once it is verified a cashier's check will be issued in the amount of your winnings along with applicable forms for taxes and what not. You will have to sign those before the funds will be released, but yeah, that's about it." The lottery official said in almost a bored voice, tinged with perhaps a touch of jealousy.

"Okay. And... thanks again for your help." Adam said sincerely, and ended the call.

Marna still sat at the kitchen table with Adam while he had called the lottery office for the information. She had only heard his side of the conversation so she was still kind of pins and needles waiting to hear what he had been told. Her last cup of tea had long gone cold but she hadn't even noticed that as she waited and listened. She smiled at Adam when he ended the call and sat back and looked up at her and grinned sheepishly.

"And what did you learn?" She asked with a subdued enthusiasm.

"Pretty simple, really. I just need to bring my original ticket with me to the office and they will verify that it is authentic and the numbers are correct. Then I will need to fill out some tax forms and show my ID, then they will give me a cashier's check for the amount of my winnings, less taxes." Adam reiterated what he had been told by the lottery official.

"Do you know how much money you have won?" Marna asked.

"Well, I got four out of five numbers correct and the Power ball number so they say that is worth $50,000 dollars..." Adam said shaking his head in amazement. It still just didn't seem real to him. So much money! More than he had ever imagined let alone held in his life.

"So much..." Marna said quietly, seemingly as amazed as Adam was.

"Of course, that's before taxes. I'm sure it won't be... that much... but still... that's a LOT of money." Adam said still sounding lost in thought.

"Adam... You could go to school... if you wanted..." Marna said softly, earning a startled glance from Adam.

"I... I guess I could... or... I don't know... it's just so much to think about just yet. It just doesn't seem real... yet." Adam said again, his gaze drifting off to some point far away inside of himself.

Marna smiled sweetly at the pensive young man sitting at the table beside her and stood slowly to collect her cold cup of tea. She patted Adam on his shoulder and told him to take all the time he needed. There was no hurry. She then took her cup to the sink and rinsed it out. Then dried her hands and went to the door to go out and tend her garden a while. It was such a pretty day today. She wanted to enjoy the warmth on her old bones and joints while she could.

Adam watched her go, and then thought to maybe call Rene'. He wondered if he should mention anything about the winning lottery ticket, jackpot or not, it was still a windfall for him. But he didn't want it to change anything about himself. He didn't want anyone looking at him or thinking differently about him just because he won some money. Would Rene' be like that? Or would she still see him for who he was?

*****

Rene' had just parked her car in student parking and was walking towards her first class when a car pulled up along the curb near her. At first, she didn't recognize the car but when her best friend Tara opened the passenger side door and climbed out, Rene realized it was Travis' car. Tara leaned back in through the open window and locked lips with Travis before pulling back out and watching him drive off to find his own parking spot. Tara watched him go, then turned and spotted Rene' and squealed in glee as she ran to her best friend and practically tackled her, swinging the smaller girl in a hug and giggling.

"I should be mad at you..." Rene' said with an affected huff, but her grin belied that emotion.

"Mad? About what?" Tara asked, still grinning but calming down a bit.

"I tried to call you like a million times last night! And you never answered your phone!" Rene' said plaintively, but her scowl broke into a grin as well and she actually blushed a little.

Tara took this all in, thinking that she herself had been a bit distracted last night and honestly had not heard her phone vibrate or ring at all. She and Travis had been lost in a world of their own. But looking at Rene', Tara noted something had changed with her best friend. Then remembering that they had parted ways at the picnic she, Travis, Rene' and Adam had shared at the lake... it dawned on her. Tara's eyebrows shot up in surprise and she ducked her head grinning lasciviously before biting her bottom lip and silently urging her bestie to spill the beans.

"I had... a great time... after you and Travis left yesterday..." Rene' began and turned and slowly started walking towards her first class... Tara falling in step beside her leaning in waiting for more.

"And..." Tara prompted.

"And... You would not FUCKING BELIEVE me if I told you!" Rene' said with an exasperated giggle.

"Try me!" Tara said breathlessly, elbowing her bestie to go on.

"Well... when Adam and I went to get the sticks... to cook the hotdogs with... we talked. I let him know that I had always kind of had a crush on him but didn't think he or anyone else had ever really noticed me." Rene' said smiling dreamily for a moment. "He told he that he had noticed me but thought that neither I or any other girl would be interested in him or even care."

"Huh?" Tara asked not sure if she was following Rene's gist of her story.

"He HAD a crush on me... sort of... and was too shy and bashful to say or do anything about it!" Rene' said turning to look into Tara's puzzled face. "So... I kind of... well... showed him how interested I was in him..." Rene' added and blushed a bright rosy red before turning and walking some more.

"Showed him? Showed him how?" Tara asked a little warily.

"Um... I kind of gave him... a blow job..." Rene' said so softly that Tara almost missed it.

"You WHAT?" Tara gasped out in surprise. Her bestie Rene' giving ANYONE a blow job?

"I blew him... and he... loved it!" Rene' said with a grin but still glowing with a blush that just didn't seem to want to die down. "But his sister... well... NOT sister, Jade and her friend came out of the bushes just after we finished..." Rene' mumbled, biting her own lip and giving Tara a sidelong glance... waiting for some sort of reaction.

"You got BUSTED!?" Tara asked laughing, but then caught herself and leaned in closer. "Did they see any of it?" She asked.

"I... I don't know. If they did, they didn't say anything, but I think his... NOT sister... kind of has a thing for him too. But she seemed cool with me showing affection for Adam. I don't know, it's kind of confusing to be honest. But that's not the best part, really." Rene' said, grinning again.

"There's MORE?" Tara asked in astonishment.

"Oh, yeah!" Rene' agreed "After you guys left, we sat and talked a lot. And... fooled around some. Adam wanted to thank me for what I had given him earlier. I let him... touch me." Rene' said a bit sheepishly, still grinning and blushing.

"He touched you? That's all?" Tara asked beginning to sound a little put off by such a seemingly blasé effort.

"Oh, he did more than simply touch me. DAMN! That boy... that man, has magic fingers Tara! HOLY SHIT! I thought I was going to lose my mind! And I... squirted! I've NEVER squirted before in my life!" Rene' declared stopping and turning to face her stunned best friend.

"Squirted? Really? That's... that's freakin' awesome! But... that's not all, is it?" Tara declared, looking at the sparkle in Rene's eyes and making an intuitive leap.

Rene' giggled and shook her head in the negative energetically and looked around to see if anyone had overheard or were close enough to hear what she said next.

"Then... He ate me out! He licked my pussy! He said it was the first time he had done either... finger someone or lick them. I honestly don't know if I can believe him or not, because he is just soooo damned GOOD at it! I came like a dozen times! I don't know for sure... but I squirted AGAIN!" It got all over him. I was so embarrassed but he was fine with it." Rene' relayed.

"Adam? Adam Ronan?" Asked Tara in disbelief.

"Yeah! The same. He's so... gentle and sweet... and FUCK! SO HOT!" Rene' declared, again looking around to see if anyone else had overheard what she said.

"Is that what you were trying to reach me about?" Tara asked, giving her bestie an apologetic look and biting her bottom lip once more.

Rene' turned and began walking slowly towards her first class and nodded her head, still smiling wistfully, and glancing at Tara time and again.

"Rene' I'm so sorry... but..." Tara giggled herself. "I was kind of distracted too." She added and sighed and bumped her shoulder to her bestie's shoulder and they both giggled a bit more.

"Oh! And Adam texted me last night... he would like to see me again... a real date this time..." Rene' added a little more quietly but with a genuine smile on her face, not just a grin.

"You Go Girl!" Tara squealed with delight and they both walked a little faster, they would have to talk more about all this after their first classes. They made plans to catch up at lunch.

Xiba took a step or two back from where she had been bent over the sensor display showing the schematic rendering of her downed and damaged ship. Thorough sensor scans had helped to create a three-dimensional rendering in great detail. She was heartened to learn that the majority of the ship was structurally sound and intact. However, due to the collision with that unidentified orbital satellite the ship had tumbled while entering this planet's atmosphere. As a result, the less robust dorsal outer hull plating had been significantly damaged. Entire panels had all but been completely ablated by the intense heat and friction with the atmosphere. Those sections would have to be replaced before the ship could ever enter orbit or leave this planet.
