Coveting Her Neighbor

As always, I adore comments and suggestions for new adventures featuring any of my characters - that's why I write these stories.

It was an exceptionally ordinary evening in Dakota Madison's neighborhood. A hot Dallas day had given way to a tolerably warm evening, which she appreciated as she walked her dog. The wide streets were lined with green-leafed oaks that cast shade down onto her newly tanned shoulders. Kit, her Jack Russel terrier, snuffled at the freshly mown glass of one of her neighbors and Dakota urged him along. There were safer places to pee for him. The neighborhood was peaceful enough but she'd seen some of the men here come near to blows over their lawns.

She flicked back a lock of pale blonde hair and adjusted the strap of her tank top. Blue eyes swept down the street and crinkled as a smile split her face.

"Hey Aditi, hey Chetan!" she said, waving at the mother and son who lived next door to her. "Nice to see you as always."

"Good to see you too," Aditi said in that rolling accent of hers. Her dark skin glistened a bit as her round cheeks widened with a smile. "You're looking very tan! I hope Mexico treated you well."

Madison laughed and nodded at Chetan, who wanted to pet Kit. "It was great. Just me, Kit, and Doug." Then she leaned in and winked. "Would have preferred just me and Kit, to be honest."

Aditi raised her eyebrows in amusement. "I certainly get that feeling!" Dakota wasn't sure, but she felt as though the woman's eyes flicked downward, towards the window of Dakota's cleavage cut from the tank top. But that would be silly. Aditi was a local business leader and active in the Indian community, even as a single mom.

And Dakota was a dutiful Christian housewife. Men eyed her up sometimes but she knew how to ignore it. And she definitely didn't think that was a possibility here. She wondered why it had even crossed her mind.

Well, perhaps it was because she hadn't had sex in two months.

And not even sunny Mexico could fix it. She kept her smile plastered on her face but perhaps something crossed her eyes because Aditi looked concerned.

"I'm sorry, that was rude," she said. "It's just, I got divorced you know," she continued, lowering her voice while Chetan happily walked Kit alongside them. "Maybe the bitter part of me comes out sometimes."

"No, you're fine honey," Dakota assured her. She took back the leash from Chetan as they got to her house. "I'm just tired is all." She hesitated, just a moment, then spoke. "You ever regret it?"

Aditi, on the other hand, did not hesitate even for a second. "No," she replied firmly. "I'm happy. And even better, I'm satisfied." The way she said it confused Dakota, and the look in Aditi's eyes confused her more. It was almost... hungry.

"Good evening, Mrs. Madison," Chetan said cheerfully.

Dakota smiled genuinely this time and waved back at him. "Good evening, Mr. Pandya! You be good to your mom, okay?"

Dakota's gaze shifted downward to Aditi's retreating figure, trailing the woman's long dark hair as it cascaded down her back to settle above her sizable posterior. She thought she felt something quiver, low and deep inside of her.

Dakota shivered and gestured Kit inside. It was starting to get chilly.

She made dinner for Doug and served it to him while he typed on his laptop in the living room. Fox News blared on the TV and he alternated between complaining about the damn protesters and his accountant. Dakota knew that Doug didn't like being asked about work, so she just sat quietly by him with a glass of wine and Kit on her lap.

They had met in college, a small private Baptist school. He played third base and she played second for the softball team. He was the All American man then, tall, muscular with sandy brown hair and sparkling blue eyes. Some of that athletic fervor still hung to his frame, but at thirty he was starting to gain weight and lines under his eyes. He inherited a construction company from his dad but never ceased to insist he could have been drafted to the MLB if things had been different.

They lived well, and she was happy. For a time. She touched his arm and he pulled away. "I have to figure out this deal. The damn Chinaman accountant fucked it up." She nodded at him. She wanted to ask if she could help, but it wasn't her place.

"It's just," she said quietly, "I was hoping we could try tonight. You know... I checked and I'm ovulating."

He glanced at her. He sighed, face crumpling uselessly. "I'm sorry babe. I just... I really can't tonight."

She nodded, her face frozen in a pantomime of compliance. But Dakota wanted to scream at him. She was twenty-eight. All of her friends had babies, most had two! It wasn't fucking fair.

But she didn't say those things. She just cleaned up, did the dishes, poured him a drink, and went to bed. But as she lay restless there, sleep eluded her. Her frustration and a new aching need seemed to roar between her legs and her heart.

It was a sin to do what she did. But she reached down there, felt herself under her silk pajamas, and sighed as a little tickle of pleasure soothed her. She hadn't done this in years, not since her wedding day. Dakota had told herself she didn't need it anymore, and that she owed it to God to stop gratifying herself like a slut. But as her fingers found a pleasing and familiar rhythm, she couldn't believe that she had ever denied herself this.

Doug entered the room, in the darkness. Her hand flew out of her pants, her cheeks hot with shame. Wiping her hand off hastily underneath her pillow, she turned around towards him as he got in bed.

He turned away from her and began to snore almost instantly. Dakota felt her cunt practically groan with that horrible feeling of being unsatisfied.

But she couldn't lie next to her husband and commit sin. Dakota groaned and got out of bed. She was going for a walk instead.

She slipped on a house coat and disarmed the house before exiting. The pale streetlights cast shadows across the street and the cool air hummed with cricket song. She walked up and down her street for a bit, trying to ignore the heat that festered in her loins.

It was around 11PM that Dakota heard the tapping noise. It was light, barely noticeable, but after two walks back and down her street, she could not ignore it. It was not consistent in rhythm but it never quite went away. She looked up. It was getting louder now, and more frequent.

It sounded a bit like a bird tapping glass. She stopped in front of the narrow fenced patch of grass that split her house from Aditi's. The sound was coming from above, but she didn't see a bird. The hedges that rose against the Aditi's side of the fence were high enough to shield Dakota's upper floor bedroom window from the other side, but the noise wasn't coming from Dakota's bedroom. It came from the other side of the fence.

Dakota laid her hand on the fence and bit her lip. She pushed back her hair and sighed. Who cared about the sound? Peeking around her neighbor's yard was snooping and wrong, and it really probably was a bird or squirrel.

Then again, she supposed if it was something serious, it was her duty to inform Aditi. Dakota shrugged and slipped down the Pandya's side of the fence, brushing against the high privacy hedges. She walked until she came to the gate and the tapping sound grew very loud and very fast.

Dakota glanced up to see a lit window, with the blinds up. And against that window, were two pairs of delicate, pale white feet. Each foot had a silver bangle around it, and each foot was squeaking and occasionally flying off and clattering lightly against the glass window.

She felt the damp heat in her legs increase. Someone on the other side of Aditi Pandya's bedroom window was lying on their back on the floor, slapping their feet desperately against the window. And Dakota imagined that they probably weren't wearing much, and were writing about in considerable pleasure.

She was also certain about two more things. The first was that those feet belonged to a slender, petite woman. And the second was that the woman was not Aditi, given the color of her skin.

Her hand had slipped under her pajamas again, unconsciously. She watched the feet get excited again, the shapely pale legs extending so the woman's toes curled against the opposite ends of the window. Dakota felt her knees buckle as her fingers rubbed herself madly, trying to match the eagerness of the mysterious woman.

Her orgasm was sharp and hurried, and she rubbed herself eagerly through it, her free hand's fingernails scraping the wall. She bit down on a strand of her blonde hair to muffle her low moans, blue eyes fixed intently on the window as the legs of the unknown woman battered out one last, desperate staccato on the glass.

Dakota wiped herself off on Aditi's lawn. She was being a very bad neighbor today. Sweat was slick on her forehead as she retreated. To her dismay, neither Aditi nor this mysterious woman made an appearance. But she did see a brown skinned hand snake out to pull down the blinds.

Cheeks flushed, she fled into her house. Kit yelled and ran to greet her. To her chagrin, he seemed to spend an inordinate amount of time sniffing her pants. She only hoped Doug didn't have as good of a nose.

As she splashed water in her face and stared into the bathroom mirror, she felt a rare, uncontrollable giggle escape her lips. Dakota had forgotten how it felt to orgasm. And she now remembered how good it really was.

More importantly, she needed to find out more about her neighbor, Ms. Aditi Pandya.

That proved unfruitful. Weeks went by without another such sighting in Aditi's side yard, and when she ran into her on the street, they chatted like nothing happened. As far as Dakota could tell, Aditi wasn't seeing anyone, and no cars ever parked in her driveway overnight.

Maybe she had imagined it all? Dakota took late night walks with Kit frequently these days, especially since Doug seemed less interested in her than ever. She felt disturbed and ashamed by her obsession, always trying to spot a light on in her neighbor's window late at night, but her obsession was never rewarded. Part of her knew that it hardly mattered what Ms. Pandya did in her spare time. She was a divorced mother and entitled to her personal life. But Dakota knew that such behaviors with another woman were... wrong, especially with a little boy in the house. So why was she unable to drive thoughts from her mind of Aditi, her brown skin gleaming with sweat, naked and coiled up in the embrace of another woman? Why did she think about it late at night, while she lay beside her husband, her loins aflame?

Still, there was nothing to it, apparently. And as autumn approached, Dakota eventually stopped thinking about it.

But things were about to change.

It was around 7PM on a Friday night. The sun had just dipped over the edge of the sky. Doug was on a fishing trip with the boys this weekend. Perhaps this was why Dakota was in a particularly sour mood as she walked Kit, scowling at the children enjoying their last week before the start of school.

She noticed Chetan playing with Sam, a kid from the next block on the yard. They were playing catch with a baseball and when they waved at her, she sullenly waved back. As she stopped to let Kit pee into a bush, she saw a woman in her twenties approach the Pandya's house. She was a thin woman with pale skin and shaggy dark bangs, a piercing in her nose, wearing tight jeans and boots. Not the usual look of a resident. Dakota happened to notice she had nicely shaped hips, a realization that made her uncomfortable.

To her surprise, Chetan greeted her with a hug and introduced her to Sam. Dakota pretended to look at her phone as Aditi came out, dressed in a stunning blue dress that flattered her considerable bosom and derrière. She chatted with the shaggy haired woman, shook her hand and then walked to her car.

She saw Dakota, who quickly averted her gaze. "Hi Dakota," she said, smiling cheerily at her. "This is Chetan's sitter, Val!"

"I don't need a sitter," Chetan protested. "I'm turning twelve next month."

"We're just buddies, right?" Val said, giving him a fist bump. She closed the gap between Dakota and her and extended her hand. Val had glittering green eyes that seemed to rake over Dakota like a hungry wolf. "Nice to meet you. You live next door?"

"Yeah, it's a pleasure." Dakota shook Val's hand, surprised by its softness. She looked down at her boots. "Nice boots." Were those slender feet she had seen tapping against the window encased within?

"Thanks." Val turned around. "Nice meeting you, gotta get back to the kids."

Dakota nodded and tugged at Kit's leash. Kit took one quick pet from Val and then followed Dakota home. It appeared as though Val had not parked by Aditi's house. It was all very... strange.

As she expected, sleep eluded her that night. Instead, she sat by the living room window and watched reality TV at a low volume, a glass of wine in her hand. Kit snoozed on the couch across from her. But Dakota wasn't focused on the bachelor's latest problem. She was listening for the sound of a car.

When she heard it, low and rumbling next door, she rose and went to the window. She saw Aditi's car pull into the driveway and disappear behind her fence. Dakota looked at her watch. It was almost midnight.

She heard a car door slam shut, and a house door swing open after that. Then there was silence. She waited for the door to open again, but it didn't. By now all of her windows were open, the TV was off, and she was practically craning her head outside. Dakota realized how ridiculous she looked so she decided to go for a walk.

Slipping on her jacket, she stepped outside. She shivered and walked down the street across from Aditi's house. No sign of Val, no sign of lights in the house. She walked up and down for almost thirty minutes. Dakota couldn't stand it.

This time, she didn't go up through the front but from the back alley behind their townhouses where they put out their trash. She opened Aditi's gate by slipping her hand over the side and entered her backyard. There was a swingset and a soccer goal set up there. The swings creaked eerily as Dakota tiptoed across the yard. She stood beneath Aditi's bedroom window and looked up. There was a light on but the blinds were down. She saw two silhouettes move across briefly. Low murmur of voices against the symphony of crickets.

Then the lights went off, and all she could hear were the crickets. Dakota zipped up her jacket and walked back to her house. After she peeled off her damp panties, she lay on her bed and masturbated ceaselessly, little moans escaping from her delicate lips. She did this until she fell asleep.

She had set her alarm for five AM. Still groggy, she rose and got dressed for a run. Dakota liked to run to clear her mind and stay in shape, but today she had a different goal.

She jogged around the block a few times until she finally saw what she wanted to see. Val exited the Pandya's house, as the sun just peeked up over the edge of the horizon. Dakota jogged a block behind her, slowly, following her around the neighborhood, almost to the edge of the highway. She watched as Val got into her car and drove away. Dakota felt her insides clench.

Dakota hadn't felt that feeling in a long time. She did not recognize it right away as jealousy.

After showering, Dakota made coffee and toasted a bagel. She took both outside to her porch and sat there, flipping idly through the pages of a Colleen Hoover novel. It was warm, and she felt a bead of sweat trickle down her forehead, down underneath her sunglasses. She shifted her legs, swathed in thin capri pants, and tried to distract herself from the strange feelings inside of herself with the plot of the book. Dakota found herself quite unsuccessful at this task.

Her lack of success only furthered when she saw Aditi approaching. It was the Indian woman who was jogging this time, wearing a tight athletic tank top, and form fitting. As she passed by, Dakota tried not to stare at her considerable bosom, rising and falling with the footfalls of her shoes, or the jiggliness of large and shapely derriere. To her embarrassment, Aditi actually stopped in front of her house and waved at her. Dakota's pale cheeks flushed.

"Hey," Aditi said, pulling out her headphones. "It is a beautiful day, isn't it?"

"Yeah," Dakota said. She set aside her book. "You finished running?"

"Just about," Aditi said. She seemed to want to say something, her plump lips pursing, then stopped. "Wasn't expecting so much heat!"

Dakota giggled in the girlish way she used to at Doug's jokes, back when they were in college. "You want some lemonade? I made it yesterday, but it should still be good." What was wrong with her?

Aditi's eyebrows rose. She took a few steps up Dakota's porch. "That actually sounds delicious. I love lemonade." Dakota tried not to lick her lips as she saw the glistening sweat peppered over Aditi's dark skin and deep cleavage.

"One second. Have a seat." Dakota went inside and padded over to the fridge. Lord almighty, she was a little hot and wet down there. Never had she experienced this sort of arousal from laying her eyes upon a sweaty woman. Something inexplicable was happening to her. And she didn't know how to fight it.

She poured two glasses of lemonade over ice and brought them outside. Aditi had made herself comfortable on the chaise lounge, her foot resting on the little ottoman. Her dark eyes seemed to slide over the slim-fitting capri pants Dakota wore, and she had a secretive little smirk as she took the lemonade from Dakota. It made Dakota uneasy and titillated at the same time.

But she didn't say anything. She just sat down across from Aditi, and criss-crossed her legs on the lounge chair. "Cheers," she said.

"Cheers," Aditi said.

Their glasses clinked together. Aditi took a long sip, then ran those dark eyes over Dakota again. It felt almost like she was peeling off her clothes. "I actually wanted to talk to you, Dakota. It's a bit of an awkward conversation. Is your husband home?"

Dakota blinked. Her cheeks started to heat up again. What was going on? "No, uh, he's on a fishing trip this weekend. What is it?"

"Well, I noticed some footprints in my side garden and broken branches in the hedges recently. So I checked my security cameras."

Dakota was very glad she was wearing sunglasses. If not, she was certain her eyes would have given her away. "Oh," she said, trying to sound perplexed. "Was it an intruder? Maybe one of Chetan's friends ran through there."

Aditi nodded slowly. She took another laborious sip and smacked her lips. Dakota couldn't stop staring at them, admiring their plumpness, imagining them tracing patterns of her pale skin, which was not very pale at all right now.

"The footage showed that you came into my yard a few weeks ago. And looked up into my bedroom window for quite some time." Aditi's voice was calm, nonconfrontational. Dakota was sweating bullets. "May I ask why? I am not angry. Merely curious."

Dakota wanted to find a way out of this. But she couldn't see one. And if she lied or denied it, Aditi might call the cops. "I... I swear, I wasn't up to anything creepy. I was out on a late night walk, and I heard a strange noise, like a tapping. I was worried someone was in your yard, and I went to check it out." She didn't say anything about what she'd seen. Dakota hoped this would be the end of it.

Aditi's face was unreadable. "And did you see anything? You were there for quite a while. I couldn't see exactly what you were doing, the quality wasn't very good."

Masturbating was probably not the answer in this scenario. "I couldn't see anything."
