Brave New Girl Ch. 04
A wave of attention rippled through the entrance hall to the theater and focused on Lucia the moment she walked in. She held in her panic and sent a cursory glance around. She'd dressed way too conservatively.
She was wearing a white cotton mini dress. It was backless, sleeveless, and had a deep v neckline that made wearing a bra impossible. Luckily her tits were perky enough for the task. She'd spent nearly every last credit on the dress and her ticket for the night. She couldn't afford Sculpting.
She breathed deeply and walked to the bar. In her panic she forgot to smile and greet the people she passed. Instead she glanced at their outfits and felt increasingly sick to her stomach.
Sculpting was clearly a must. Every woman was sculpted into the latest trend, rail thin leggy and barely there tits. And they all wore the same fashion of floor length togas made of transparent gossamer glittery synthetic fabric.
Underwear was also clearly out and Lucia nearly groaned in embarrassment. The skirt of her dress flared out and ended just below her ass. If she bent forward even a little her matching white lacey panties were visible.
When her PD was in scannable range of the bar the backsplash changed to a soft golden glow and a holographic bartender appeared.
"How may I serve you?"
She sighed. Tonight had been a gamble and she'd completely ruined it. She realized now there has never been a chance of her fitting in with these people. She had no idea what being rich was like.
If she'd known that they just followed the latest fashion she would not have spent so much on the natural fabric for her dress. She shook her head, if she'd known she would have changed a lot of things.
Well fuck it. She had spent the credits, she may as well enjoy it. "Sparkling rosé" she said. The bartender poured her the drink, it looked like liquid glitter and Lucia took a sip. It tasted amazing. She tried to enjoy it, she really did. But the thought of going back to homemade booze after this was depressing. She scoffed, disgusted with herself, with the delicious drink, with the knowledge she'd never have it again.
Suddenly her PD started getting dozens of notifications, people in the room wanting to know her profile, all anonymous requests. Probably wanting to confirm their suspicions that she didn't belong there. Grateful she'd spent the credits to set her profile to private, all they could see was her name and her age.
She sighed and took another sip of her wine. She should probably turn around and face the music but she didn't want to. The bars backsplash changed to a deep blue and a menu appeared on the surface next to her. A man scrolled through before choosing and then turned towards her.
"Hello" he said, his voice sounding familiar.
She turned and her stomach flipped. It was the FRA director that she'd had the interview with, looking just as devastatingly attractive as ever.
Her body responded to him before her nerves could kick in. She smiled and leaned against the bar, displaying her curves to their full advantage. She rested her hand on his on the bar, lightly scratching his palm. "Hi" she said.
His hand captured hers, intertwining their fingers and stroking his thumb over the inside of her wrist. "You've made quite the entrance." He gestured his drink at the crowd.
She gave a half hearted laugh. "Yes I really bungled it. I stick out like a sore thumb."
He raised an eyebrow. "Bungled? What were you going for?"
"I was hoping to network. Find an opportunity to prove my potential as you put it."
"Not a bad idea. You've haven't bungled it though, as you put it."
Hope blossomed in her expression and he laughed and cupped her face and continued. "You're above following trends, you look stunning without an inch of sculpting, you wear a dress casually where not only is the fabric alone worth more than most of these people make in a month, but it's tailored to you, and you think the wine tastes awful, as in you've had better, much better. And in addition to all of that," he gave her a cheeky grin, "but you have companion in one of the most important men in the room to the point that he has approached you."
She couldn't hold back her laughter. It was ridiculous. She believed him, but it was absurd. She'd done everything wrong but somehow had better results?
"So what do I do now?"
His thumb traced her lower lip and she unthinkingly obliged, letting her lips relax, becoming soft and malleable. "I suppose if you could get someone with great social standing to introduce you to people. All the better if they know who might have the kind of opportunities that would most impress the FRA."
He pushed his thumb into her mouth and she ran her tongue around it while looking up at him. He smiled and pulled his thumb back out.
"Lucky me" she said, smiling against his thumb.
"Lucky you" he said. "Well then, you'll sit with me during the show, and we only have thirty minutes before it starts and the fifteen minutes of intermission so let's begin."
He proceeded to introduce her to dozens of men and women throughout the evening. He sat next to her during the show which was a sexual production of an old fairy tale, "The boy who didn't listen." He had his hands on her throughout, almost possessively when talking with others and only teasingly otherwise.
Towards the end of the show, when the final sex number was just starting he whispered in her ear. "How are you getting home?"
He then gave her earlobe a quick nibble before leaning back. She looked at him and figured her chances were pretty high. She leaned into him, her hand sliding up his leg and she whispered into his ear. "Maybe I could come home with you?"
He gripped her wrist and gently pulled it away from his thigh. "Not yet. I'm guessing you don't have a way home then?"
She shook her head.
"Alright, I'll order you a cab. You should probably leave early so no one sees your OverSuit."
She felt herself blushing furiously. Grateful the room was still dark so she could escape unnoticed. She stood and he grabbed her hand, kissing the inside of her wrist before letting go and she fled. Humiliated and confused.
By the time she had collected her OverSuit from the coat check, put it on and went outside, a cab was waiting there for her. She walked up to it and when her PD registered, confirming her identity, the door opened. She got in and it began driving her home.
She supposed she couldn't have gone home with him, everyone would have seen her OverSuit and immediately known her to be a fraud. And it probably would have been bad for his so called social standing. Still, she couldn't help a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.
She heard it before she felt it, a strange hissing sound coming from inside the cab. She couldn't see anything that could be making the sound so she shrugged it off, figuring it might be some new feature of cabs, or maybe something unique to non-carpools.
Soon she started yawning. It had been a long night, surprisingly successful but still stressful. The cab must be taking a strange route or something. It had only taken 3 minutes to get there. But the motion of the car and whatever that hissing was lulled her and she began dozing off. She barely registered the car coming to a stop. Just as alarm bells started going off in the back of her mind, the car door opened without her command, arms reached in and she fell asleep.
