Vol 12- SABRINA CARPENTER
I woke up the morning of November 4th excited to do a big time concert. Even though I had worked plenty of shows at Bridgestone Arena, including all the big name country stars, I was sad to admit that Sabrina Carpenter was probably a bigger deal than the vast majority of them. It was definitely going to be a different vibe than what I was used to.
Unfortunately, my excitement was quickly killed when I opened up Instagram, clicked on a story from Carly Pearce, and saw what appeared to be a hard launch of her and a new boyfriend.
The same Carly Pearce that had texted me the week before telling me how much she missed me.
The same Carly Pearce that had sent me a picture of a very revealing Halloween costume.
The same Carly Pearce that had made plans with me to get together when she was back in town.
Either I read her intentions very wrong or something changed very quickly.
I thought about texting her but decided to just leave it alone and go about my day.
I got up out of bed, did a quick at-home workout, showered, ate breakfast, and got into my car to drive to the arena, hoping to make a good impression and help out if needed.
Once at the arena, I instantly noticed that I was right about it being a different vibe. Things were going crazy with people running around. I quickly got my staff pass, checked in with the audio team, and was told to go find a woman named Stephanie. When I found her, she was in a panic, practically screaming at everybody near her. I briefly thought about leaving and telling the audio manager that I couldn't find her, but figured that I would see how I could help.
Upon introducing myself, Stephanie asked, "You live here right? In Nashville?" I told her that I did and she said, "Good. I need somebody that knows the town. Ms. Carpenter requires a case of Fiji water and a bowl of fresh berries in her dressing room. I don't know how it was missed earlier, but whatever, it happens. If you can go and get them, quickly, you'll be my hero."
"Yes, ma'am, I know just the place," I told her.
"Go!" she yelled, rushing off to another crisis.
I walked back out to my car, drove across the street to the Ryman Auditorium, let myself in as I said hi to a few people working there, and walked over to a storage area. I knew that they always kept fresh fruit on hand and pallets of Fiji water, just in case. I grabbed the best looking berries that I could find, grabbed a case of Fiji water and drove back to the arena.
Walking back in, I found Stephanie, still pacing around, and asked where Sabrina's dressing room was. Instead of telling me, she grabbed the items from my hands, passed them off to somebody else, and walked away without saying thank you.
I shrugged my shoulders and went back to the audio area and found some stage crew that I knew and started to help them out. Two hours after I arrived, I was finally told that I would be helping out Sabrina's band that night, with my main job to provide support to the guitar technician. Wasn't really my expertise, but whatever, I was there to help.
At soundcheck an hour later, I caught my first glimpse of Sabrina. She was dressed pretty comfortably, wearing gray sweatpants and a white hoodie with her platinum blonde hair pulled up into a messy bun on top of her head. I got to work with the guitar tech, making sure everything was working for him during the soundcheck. Caleb, as I would later learn was his name, gave me a fist bump as the lead audio engineer gave us the OK that everything sounded good, and Sabrina and the band left the stage.
I was pretty sure as they walked off the stage that Sabrina made eye contact with me, but I could have just been dreaming.
The rest of the afternoon was a lot more of what I was used to. Pretty relaxed, jokes and laughs flying around, a prank or two, and finally letting the stage crew into catering. As show time grew closer, things got a little bit more hectic, but everything went smoothly and before I knew it, Sabrina's two opening acts were playing, I was double checking everything for the guitar tech, and Sabrina was backstage, looking amazing up close as she dressed up for her concert, and we were getting the signal to get into place to start her performance.
And what a performance it was. I wouldn't call it a concert. She sang, sure, and there was music, but it was a show. The lights, the videos, her crowd interaction, it was on a totally different level from any country concert I had been to or worked.
Saying that, I wouldn't change my country music for anything.
After the concert, I started to help with the clean up. Since she was playing again tomorrow, there wasn't too much to do, luckily. Just as I thought we were done, we were all called to the backstage area. Walking back there with the rest of the audio team, we were told by members of her team that Sabrina wanted to thank everyone for their help and to take a shot with them. We were given a choice of tequila, whiskey, cider, or an espresso. I picked the whiskey.
There was at least fifty people cramped into the backstage area, all holding shot glasses and trying not to spill. Sabrina, back in sweatpants and hoodie, was standing on top of some equipment cases, with a security guard on either side of her. When her manager gave her a signal, she cleared her throat, getting everybody's attention.
"I just wanna say...thank you. You're the reason these shows feel like magic, and I'm so lucky to have the best crew in the world. Lights, sound, stage, wardrobe, you all crushed it tonight. Especially the people who came in to help out, we couldn't have done it without your help. I love you, I appreciate you, and I couldn't do this without you. Now... let's take this shot and celebrate!"
Everybody cheered as we raised our glasses and downed the shot we had. I saw that a few people around us were looking for somewhere to set their glasses down, and started to take them from them, watching as people were quickly leaving the backstage area. Seeing somebody holding other glasses and grabbing them from people, I made my way to them, but was stopped when I ran into somebody I couldn't quite see.
"Oh, sorry," I said, looking down and nearly dropping the glasses when I saw that it was Sabrina I had bumped into.
"You're OK," she said with a laugh. "Just glad you didn't drop those glasses. Those must be some talented hands you have there."
Stephanie randomly appeared at my side, taking the shot glasses from my hands, and running off just as fast.
"You helped out the guitar tech today, right?" Sabrina asked me, staring up at me. "Do you work here at the arena?"
"Actually, I work for the Grand Ole Opry, but I usually get calls to help out here or elsewhere around town," I explained to her.
"Oh, that's cool. I really want to play there or the Ryman one day. But, I would probably have to tone down my style, don't you think?" Sabrina said with a laugh.
"Maybe just a little but you'd be surprised," I told her.
"Are you a guitar tech there?" She asked me.
"No. I'm actually the lead audio engineer," I said.
"Oh, Mr. Big Shot. And we have you helping out my guitar tech? Wow," she said, her laugh and smile infecting me and making me laugh.
"I guess Mr. Big Shot at the Opry is just a little fry for the big pop star," I said, laughing as Sabrina faked being insulted.
"Well, if Mr. Big Shot doesn't have any big time plans tonight, he is more than welcome to come party in my dressing room," she said. "Follow me, if you want."
I was not going to turn down an invitation from Sabrina Carpenter and I quickly followed her out of the backstage area and to her dressing room. I could hear music coming from it and walked in behind her to find about twenty people drinking, dancing, and having a good time. Sabrina grabbed a shot from a table, handed me one, grabbed herself one, and we toasted me before taking the shot, and disappearing into the crowd.
I found a few people that I knew and chatted with them, taking a few more shots when handed them. When offered a third, I begged it off and went to find a seat. As I sat down on a couch in the dressing room, I found myself sitting next to a very drunk Stephanie who said, "Hey. You're the guy I never thanked for the berries and water. God, I'm such a bitch, ain't I?"
I laughed and said, "No, you were just doing your job."
Stephanie went to say something else but got interrupted when someone grabbed her shoulder. We both looked up to see Sabrina standing there. "Steph, go get a ride to the hotel. You're wasted. Leave me alone with my new friend."
Stephanie told her yes and got up from the couch. She walked over to the door and disappeared through it.
"Will she make it to the hotel OK?" I asked as Sabrina sat down next to me.
"Oh yeah. There's a whole team of drivers waiting for whoever to walk out of this room," she told me. "Yourself included, if you want."
"Oh, that's nice," I said.
"Not as nice as this will be," Sabrina said.
Before I could ask what she meant, Sabrina straddled my lap, wrapped her arms around my neck, and leaned down to kiss me.
I'd kissed enough women to think I knew what to expect, but Sabrina's lips threw me off, soft and plush, with a hint of vanilla sweetness that made me forget my own name for a second. The way they moved against mine was unhurried, like she had all night to learn me.
I kept my eyes open for a minute, scanning the room to see if anybody was watching. When I saw that nobody was, I figured they were either used to Sabrina bringing somebody in here to make out with or were instructed not to look if she did. Either way, I closed my eyes, wrapped my arms around her skinny waist, and melted into her kiss.
I wasn't sure how long the kiss lasted, but I wanted it to go on longer, especially when Sabrina started to roll her hips on my lap, grinding her groin against mine. I had just moved my hands down to her butt, cupping her cheeks and giving them a little squeeze, when somebody called Sabrina's name and whispered something in her ear.
Pulling away from me, Sabrina smiled as she said, "Well, Mr. Big Shot, this is unfortunately where our night ends. I'll see you tomorrow."
And with that, she climbed off my lap, turned, and disappeared.
As I arrived at the arena the next day, I noticed how much more relaxed the atmosphere was. With everything set up from the night before, the crew and band were mainly just hanging out. Stephanie was even in a better mood, so I assumed that somebody must have remembered the Fiji water and fresh berries.
I was playing a game of pick-up basketball in the parking lot under the arena with some other members of the stage crew when a car pulled in, a driver got out, and opened the door for Sabrina to step out.
She saw us playing and went to join a group watching us, starting to cheer as we played. After the game ended, I walked over to grab some water close to where she was. She turned to me as I drank some water and said, "Nice playing out there, Mr. Big Shot. Guess you got some talent elsewhere besides with audio."
"I told you that I'm pretty good with my hands, in more ways than one," I responded, making her laugh.
"So, I realized last night that I never learned your name," she said, looking up at me.
"It's..."
I started to tell her my name but was interrupted when she said, "I kinds like the mystery between us. See ya later, Mr. Big Shot."
As the show started, her opening acts went off without a hitch. I was helping set up Caleb, along with his guitar tech when Stephanie came to find me. "Hey, Cole, Sabrina had requested that you be her arrestee for the bit before Juno. I'll come grab you when it's time."
"The bit before Juno?" I questioned, trying to remember the night before but drawing a blank.
Caleb saw me looking confused and said, "Before her song called Juno, Sabrina finds somebody attractive in the audience and gives them pink handcuffs, basically proclaiming her love for them forever. Ninety percent of the time, it's a plant. Looks like you're the lucky one tonight."
I just shook my head, wondering what kind of world I was in.
The crowd was buzzing, restless in that perfect in-between moment when the lights stayed low, but everyone knew the next song was coming. I was leaning against the rail in the front row, just far enough back to avoid getting elbowed by someone trying to film. Then Sabrina stepped into the light, and the arena's roar hit like a wall.
She scanned the crowd, all confidence and smirk, until her gaze caught on me. It wasn't a passing glance, it was that locked-in, you're-mine-now kind of look. She took a step closer to the edge of the stage, keeping her mic at her side as if this was just between us.
"You," she said, pointing with a slow, deliberate finger that made the people around me turn their heads. "What's your name?"
"Cole," I called back, loud enough to make sure she heard over the noise.
She grinned like she'd just caught someone in a lie. "Cole... you're under arrest for being way too distracting in my front row."
The crowd ate it up, cheers and laughter echoing around me as she reached down, pulling a pair of fuzzy handcuffs from her back pocket and dangling them in front of her. She didn't need to come down--she leaned forward, locking eyes like she could cuff me from the stage if she wanted.
"Don't go anywhere," she teased, straightening up, her voice now in the mic so the whole place heard it. "I'll deal with you later."
Then the beat for "Juno" kicked in, and before she sang a word, she rolled her hips slow, dropping into that infamous pose. But even as the crowd screamed, her head turned just slightly, her gaze finding mine again, like the whole performance was a dare meant only for me.
After the concert was over, I started to help the audio guys tear down all the equipment and separate what Sabrina's crew was taking and what belonged at the arena. During the takedown, I was once again approached by Stephanie. As she called my name, I was expecting a thank you or something similar, but was instead surprised when she said, "Sabrina has told me to tell you that she is staying at The Joseph, room 1512. She'll be waiting for you."
She started to walk away but turned back and said, "I would leave now, by the way, if I were you."
With that, I said my goodbyes to the crew I was working with, and left. The Joseph was a quick three minute drive down the street and I was happily surprised to find ample parking. I entered the hotel, quickly scanning for a sign pointing me where to go, and walked down a hallway towards her room. As I stood in front of the door, I said a silent prayer that it wasn't a joke, and knocked.
When she opened the door, the first thing that hit me was the shimmer. That gold dress from earlier in the night was still hugging her like it had been sewn onto her skin, every sequin catching the low hotel light and throwing it back at me. It was short, dangerously short, and the way it draped over her curves, dipping low at the neckline, left just enough to the imagination to make my pulse kick. Her long, bare legs still glistened under the sheer shimmer of her tights, the same ones that had caught the stage lights like liquid gold.
Her hair was loose now, wild waves spilling around her shoulders, looking softer and more touchable than they had from the front row. She still had that post-show glow, a mix of sweat, perfume, and adrenaline, and her makeup was a little smudged in a way that made her look even more irresistible, smoky eyes locked on me, and that sly, knowing smile playing at her lips.
"Oh, good, I'm glad it's you," Sabrina said as she let me into her hotel and shut the door behind me.
"Were you expecting somebody else?" I asked, a little confused as I looked around at the spacious hotel room.
"Well...no. I figured you would say yes. But, just in case, I had a few backups," she confessed as we walked into the living room.
"Backups?" I questioned, wondering what was going on.
"Yes. Look, sometimes, it gets a little hard to find a hookup myself. So, I give Stephanie a list of guys, she finds out if they're interested, and sends one my way. Is that a problem?" Sabrina said, standing with one hand on her hip.
"Nope. Not at all. Just wanted to make sure we were clear what was happening here," I told her, moving closer to her.
Sabrina put a hand on my chest to stop me and said, "Oh, yes, let's be clear about that. I expect you to fuck me, good and hard. Throw me around. Use me. And leave me wanting more. Can you do that?"
Instead of responding, I reached down, wrapped my arms around her waist, and lifted her up. Sabrina wrapped her arms and legs around me and we started to kiss, picking up right where we had left off the night before.
This time, knowing nobody would stop us, I moved my hands right to her butt, grabbing a handful of cheek and squeezing it tightly as I walked us towards the bedroom. I sat down on the bed, Sabrina in my lap, as our lips parted and our tongues swirled together. I moved my hands under her skirt, grabbing at her ass through the nude tights and gold colored dance briefs she had on.
I moved her back and forth, grinding her groin on me, and pushing up as I grew hard. Sabrina moaned into my mouth, her tongue wrestling with mine, and slowly started to stand up, wiggling her way out of my arms. As she pulled her lips away from mine, she said, "I'll be right back."
I watched as she walked away, going into the bathroom, and shutting the door behind her. I wasn't sure what to do, but didn't have to wait long before she opened the door back up and stepped out. I couldn't tell what she had done, if anything, as she walked seductively towards me, putting one leg in front of the other.
Before climbing back onto my lap, she started to do a little dance, moving her hips from side-to-side, grabbing her hair and pulling it on top of her head, and stepping back when I reached out for her. Still holding her hair on top of her head, she turned around and bent over, touching her hands to her toes.
And as she did so, I realized that she had pulled off her tights and dance briefs, showing off her tan legs and a black thong she had on. She shook her ass at me, turning around to flash me her gorgeous smile before she stood back up, and climbed back onto my lap.
Sabrina moaned as she felt my hard cock through my jeans and instantly started to rub her groin on it as she leaned forward to kiss me. I put my hands back on her ass, squeezing her bare skin this time, pushing my groin up into hers.
Sabrina moved her hands between us, working at undoing my belt and jeans, saying in between kisses, "Let's let this bad boy breathe."
I lifted up my hips as she tugged my jeans and boxers down. She moaned as she wrapped her hand around my hard, thick cock, and started to stroke it up and down.
"Fuck, I'm so wet for you already," she moaned as she ended the kiss, leaning back on my lap to look down at my cock.
I grabbed tightly onto her ass and stood up, quickly turning around to lay her down on the bed. I reached up her mini-skirt, grabbed her thong, and pulled it down, licking my lips at the sight of her clean-shaven pussy. I pulled off my shirt, tossing it to the floor behind me.
I grabbed onto Sabrina's legs, pulling her butt to the edge of the bed, and holding them wide open. I let go of one as I wrapped my hand around my cock, lined my tip up with her entrance, and pushed forward, moaning as I entered into the mega-pop star, knowing how many guys...and some girls...would trade anything to be doing what I was doing.
