Deviant Suitemates Ch. 14

This is a story loosely based on my experiences in college. Loose enough that this could be called fiction. Names and dates have been changed. All characters mentioned in sexual references are 18 years of age or older. I hope you love my characters. Enjoy!

Winter Break

Maddy came downstairs, hungry for breakfast after some morning reading.

She was greeted on the stairs by a tall, slender, twenty-year-old Italian girl, wearing a purple tank top and short shorts.

"Good morning, Maddy."

"'Morning, Victoria," Maddy mumbled.

Victoria smiled as she bounded down the stairs.

Maddy grumbled to herself. Her mom and dad must be gone for the morning if Victoria was casually prancing around in her underwear. They'd never allow Maddy to have a boy over for break; but her do-no-wrong older brother could invite his girlfriend/sidechick to stay the night.

Maddy followed Victoria down the stairs and into the kitchen. They each made cereal, Maddy eyeing the rather large bowl Victoria was using.

"So, how is Evansville?" Veronica asked between bites. "Anything to do out there... besides skip rocks and drink?"

"It's fine," Maddy said. "There's a school there. Two, in fact and I attend classes."

Veronica smiled softly at Maddy. Ever since they'd met (10 months ago) Veronica felt like Maddy's older sister. Maddy's brother, Vince, was head over heels for Victoria. Vince's parents loved her. Victoria needed Maddy on her side.

"Business right?" Veronica said. "Oh I justwishyou could've come to Michigan with Vince and I. The campus..ah."

Veronica threw her head back in reverence, making Maddy's dark eyes roll.

"And the teachers," Veronica continued. "You'd love 'em. Just the best. I'd-"

"Yeah, unlike you, I don't pick a college just because Vincent picked it," Maddy said, taking a bite of cereal.

"That wasn't the only- uh... that wasn't why I chose to go to Michigan," Veronica said indignantly.

"Sure," Maddy said, grabbing her bowl and heading to the living room. She'd heard her brother coming down the stairs and didn't want to be around their smooching faces.

She needn't have worried as Vince called from the stairs, not even bothering to come more than halfway down.

"Aye V," came a thick, deep voice. "We only got a few minutes til my parents get back."

With that, Veronica grabbed her bowl and headed up the stairs.

Maddy was annoyed and she knew it was for no good reason. Her brother always turned the TV up when he was... with his lady friends and right now his TV was blaring.

She went to the kitchen to put her bowl away and her cell phone rang from the living room. She went to look and the name on the caller ID made her thighs clench.

"Hello," she answered.

"Hey, Maddy," BJ's voice rang through the phone. "How was your Christmas?"

"Great, I saw a lot of family," Maddy said. "How bout you?"

"Eh, I've seen enough of my family," BJ said. "Are you still visiting?"

"No, I'm back home."

"Yeah, I was out near Castleton and I thought of you," BJ said. "Figured you might wanna... come out and get breakfast."

"Castleton? Why?"

"This is... where you stay, right?"

"Oh," Maddy said, remembering that BJ dropped her off at Anton's house earlier over Fall Break. "That was my friend's house."

"Oh.. um... where do you stay?" he asked. He then added, "If you don't mind me asking."

"Near 63rd. But um.."

Maddy looked out her kitchen window. It was snowing, but not the fun Christmasy snow. It was a wet, spitting snow. Plus, the early winter-white blanket was melting. So the ground was covered in that gray-and-brown, slushy snow that dirtied pants and smudged favorite shoes.

"... sure. Wanna meet in Castleton?"

They met at a breakfast diner and BJ was bummed that Maddy had already had cereal. He was starving. She assured him that it was fine and watched him chow down on a full breakfast while she sipped gourmet coffee.

She did steal a bit of french toast off his plate and they each paid, Maddy assuring BJ she could handle her own drink.

"I'm not really a big coffee drinker," BJ said as they headed to the car, ducking the winter.

"That's because you haven't found your true love," she said, holding her warm to-go cup with both hands. "Get you a hot white mocha before class. That'll change your mind."

They both narrowed their eyes.

"Why that sound sexual?" BJ asked.

"It did, didn't it?"

The wind started picking up along with the flurries.

"Oh my gawsh. We gotta get outta this mess," Maddy said.

"Yeah, hope it ain't like this on campus."

"If it is, keep it on your side of the river," Maddy said.

"We're... on the same side."

They hugged. Maddy leaned into BJ with both hands on her cup and shivered against his body. BJ went in for a kiss and Maddy turned her head so that he kissed her cheek. They parted into their cars.

Maddy gave BJ a wave from her van, the heat was still warm and she blasted it.

*

Maddy was driving up to her house, which sat on a semi-busy street. It was a big country home in the city, with a big yard on all sides.

As she pulled her van into the long driveway, Vince was getting out of his sportscar.

"Aye! Maddy!" he yelled. "Didn't know if you'd be back."

"Same," Maddy called, eyeing the girl getting out of the passenger seat.

It was Ailyana, Vince's sidechick/girlfriend.

"Yeah, Mom and Dad won't be back til later," Vince said as Maddy walked with the two to the house. "So you can hang with us if you want."

"Mmm maybe," Maddy said, smiling at Ailyana. Maddy liked her better. She talked less. "I'm pretty busy though."

Inside, Maddy's brother and his company made themselves scarce. Soon, Maddy was listening to American Dad through the walls and she decided on a shower.

When she came back down the stairs, she was intercepted by her fifteen-year-old sister.

"Can you take me to the movies?" Natalia asked.

"Well, hi and good morning to you too."

Maddy said, brushing past her into the kitchen.

"Hi Maddy. Love ya sis. It's afternoon.. not morning... Good afternoon... Can you take me to the movies?" Natalia asked. She spoke it all in one long sentence.

"With who, Nat?" Maddy asked.

"No one...

Maddy eyed her sister.

"I'm meeting... Abe at the Mall."

"I knew it," Maddy said, tapping her fingers on the counter.

"Oh yeah... Can you take me to the mall first? To meet Abe?"

"hmm..." Maddy thought. "I'll take you to the movies. But, I'll be picking you up."

Natalia's initial elation faded slightly but she stayed perky. She'd take what she could get.

Ten minutes later, Maddy was back driving through the gross, snowy weather, on the way to the mall with her sister. Maddy knew she had nothing to worry about with her younger sister seeing a boy.

She'd met Abe along with everyone and approved. He was a very respectful boy. But it was a wintery day and she felt better accompanying her sister rather than leaving Natalia to her own devices.

Maddy dropped her sister off at the mall and sat in the car reading. She finished her chapter and was debating on whether to start the next one when her phone rang.

Andy was calling.

*

A few minutes earlier.

"..And if the Democrats can't fix the economy...Why should we—?"

"The Dems did fix the economy... It's the Republicans who screw it up whenever they get in power!"

"Oh sure.. We were running so well under the Dickless Democrats!"

Andy's family was in town for Christmas and someone had inexplicably turned the TV to CNN. The arguing began fierce and it was showing no sign of stopping.

"The Democrats got us in these bullshit wars—"

"It was the Republicans' fault we were even in a war. 9-11 anyone!?"

And that was Andy's cue to remove himself. He could tolerate a lot. But people using a national tragedy as a chip in their pointless debates was too much.

He and a few of the other younger members of his family snuck out of the small living room and into the hall.

"Well, one thing we can all agree on," Andy's younger cousin started. "Pokemon over Digimon."

"Of course."

"No question."

"Definitely," Andy said, smiling at his cousins.

They all broke off, headed for various parts of the city, when Andy pulled out his phone. For no real reason other than sheer curiosity, he tapped Maddy's name.

*

Maddy hesitated, feeling her chest tighten. As she grabbed the phone. Her nerves startled her.

"Hello?"

"Hey, hey. How are ya, Maddy?" Andy asked

"Just out around town."

"Avoiding family... like me eh?" Andy said. "They aren't arguing politics are they?"

"No... ew," Maddy said. "I bet you were all over that. Didn't you have a Poly-Sci class?"

The two talked about their holidays and compared their best presents.

"So... would you want to meet up later today?" Andy asked, eventually plucking up the courage. "This might be the only chance with the weather getting bad."

"Eh... I really can't," Maddy said. "I'm chaperoning my sister right now."

"Oh, how old's your sister?"

She told him and they talked some more until Maddy saw Natalie and Abe coming to The Van.

"Okay, my sister's coming," Maddy said. "I gotta go."

"See ya at school," Andy said.

"And no more arguing politics," Maddy scolded him.

"I can tell you for sure... it wasn't me."

Maddy laughed as she hung up.

Her sister got in the car with Abe and she whipped them around to the movie theater.

Despite her sister's sincerest invites, Maddy had no desire to watch the teen sports drama with her sister. And she definitely didn't want to get out of The Van, into the cold.

So as the two headed inside Maddy pulled out her book to read in the warmth.

After an hour, Maddy was trying to decide if she should keep reading or play around on her phone when her cell rang.

It was Anton. Her stomach flurried.

"Hello?" she answered.

"What up, Maddy?"

"Nothing? What's up with you?"

"Well, now I'm finally done with Christmas," he said. "I can start seeing the people that matter."

"Like who?" Maddy grinned.

"Like you? Whatcha mean?" Anton said. "You done with Christmas stuff?"

"I'vebeendone with Christmas," Maddy said. "I'm out with my sister."

"Aw shit, you ain't no scrooge is you?"

"No, I love Christmas," Maddy said. "It's just, you know. When it's over, I'm way over it."

"Hell, not me. I'm still watching Christmas movies," he said.

"Oh yeah. What're you watching now?"

"Die Hard."

"Die hard?" Maddy repeated. "That's not a Christmas movie."

"Yeah it is," Anton said. "Shittt, it checks all the boxes."

"I've seen Die Hard," Maddy said. "And I don't even remember it being about Christmas, like at all."

"You should come by and watch it," Anton said. "It's probably on now."

"Hmmm maybe later sometime. I really need to get home with my sister," Maddy said.

"Well, let me come over there," Anton said. "Your folks home?"

"Slow down, stud," Maddy said. "I'm not bringing some boy over. What example would that set?"

"Ha.. you right. You right..."

They talked for another few minutes. Before Anton had to go. Maddy sat back with her book until the radio started a throwback marathon.

Maddy loved her R&B music and after a few songs, she'd lost track of time.

"I don't want no scrub," Maddy sang along. "Scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me!"

A few minutes before the movie was set to end, the phone rang again.

This time, a big bright smile tore across Maddy's face. She snatched up the phone and turned the music.

"Hey, goofball!" she said.

"What cha doing?" Jonathan's voice asked.

"Singing bout you," Maddy said.

"About me?"

"Yeah listen."

Maddy turned up the radio and held her phone.

"Noooooh. Scruuuuhubs," the music sang. "No.. no. I don't want no scrub. Scrub is a guy who can't get no love from me."

"Oh ohhkay," Jonathan laughed. "Let me find my chickenhead CD'"

Maddy cracked up.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"I'm in town!"

"Ahhh! No you're not," Maddy cried out.

"Yeah I am," Jonathan said. "Got back yesterday. Did the whole Christmas thang."

"So where are you now?"

"Wherever you're about to be."

"I'm in Castleton. I'm waiting on Nat to get out the movies."

"Oh, so it'll be awhile?" Jonathan said.

"Well, it should be done soon," Maddy said. "You...couldfollow me home."

"I can do that," he said.

"Ok I'm in The Van. We'll have to stay on the porch though."

"Oouh. It's freezing," he said.

"I'll pull out the space heater," Maddy said.

As they laughed and she hung up, Maddy realized he was right. She'd been tucked into her book and hadn't noticed snow slush turning to windy flurries. The afternoon had turned gray.

Maddy played on her phone for a few minutes until she saw a crowd leaving the theater. She spotted her sister and her sister's guy-friend and Maddy's face fell. Maybe Maddy could stall them in the parking lot.

But as her sister approached, a big, burgundy Buick pulled up behind Maddy's Van. She smiled at the cute guy driving, before her sister, Natalie and her friend got it.

"What are you grinning at?" Natalie asked, getting into the front seat.

"Nothing," Maddy said, as the Buick backed up. "Enjoy the movie?"

"Yeah... it was funny," she said.

On the drive home, Natalie and Abe talked about the film while Maddy kept glancing at the Buick in the rearview mirror.

They dropped off Abe, who lived in the neighborhood and they whipped The Van through the snow toward the house.

Maddy chatted with her sister and congratulated Natalie when Nat told her that she'd made the Honor Roll.

"What about you?" Natalie asked. "How're your grades? Do they email them or something?

"They have to put them in by Christmas, but they won't be online for another few days."

"Are college classes hard?" Nat asked.

"They're just way more hands-on," Maddy said as they pulled onto their home road. "I'm a business major. So I do a lot of mock business proposals."

"Hmmm. Sounds fun."

"It is fun," Maddy said, putting the car in park. "College is fun."

Nat smiled.

"Alright then," she said, opening the door. "Ya comin?"

"Hmmmmm. I'm gonna stay out here," Maddy said.

"Oh... okayyy," Natalie frowned, confused, but got out and headed inside.

Maddy gave it a beat and then looked back to where the Buick was a few houses down. She waved him over and Jonathan pulled up and into Maddy's driveway.

"You were right about the cold," Maddy said, as Jonathan walked up from his car. "Just jump in."

He grinned and came around to the passenger side of the car.

"Brrr," Jonathan said, shivering with snow flurries on his wool cap.

His thin goatee and sideburns had grown into a cute beard. His neat winter coat was peppered with snow flakes.

They pulled together for an awkward hug in the front seat. They caught up on each other's break before Maddy wanted details on Jonathan's school.

"How's Savannah State? What're your classes like?"

"Boring," he said, dropping his head as if in shame.

"Really?"

"Most of em."

"What about the ones in your major?"

"It's a lot of public law," Jonathan said. "There's one broadcasting cast. It's pretty cool. The others... I don't know, man."

"Maybe you should switch to like... straight Broadcasting major..ya know?," Maddy said. "Instead of Public Relations?"

"I think I could use those law classes," Jonathan said.

"Yeah, but you'd probably do better just going directly at it. It's what you really want to do."

"Yeahhh, maybe we should smoke on it," Jonathan said, reaching into his deep coat pockets.

"Not the worst idea," Maddy smiled.

They smoked the blunt together and Jonathan asked Maddy about her finals.

"I did okay but..."

"What's up?"

"I didn't make Dean's List," Maddy said. "Honor roll at HSE was 3.0. Dean's is 3.5."

"I was 'bout to say," Jonathan said. "You were always on honor roll. What was your GPA?"

"2.9," Maddy said, sitting back.

"Dang," Jonathan said. "Though.. Maddy, that's still really good."

"It's not even honor roll," she groaned.

"It was the first freaking semester," Jonathan said. "You'll get there."

"Next term, I'll be sure toat leastget honor roll."

"F that shit," Jonathan said. "You'll get Dean's. Just like you said."

Maddy smiled. The two talked as sleet pounded The Van's windows. Maddy was still convincing Jonathan to consider changing majors.

"A Broadcasting degree from an HBCU," Maddy said, passing the blunt. "That would put you way ahead of competition. Especially with the internet."

She continued as Jonathan smoked.

"And they'll give you plenty of- really all the technical classes anyway. You can always take law classes on the side."

"Mmmm," Jonathan's soft, dark eyes looked in deep thought, behind his glasses. "I might have to talk to my class counselor lady. Your thinking might be better on this one."

"It usually is," Maddy's eyes flashed.

"You know, since it's Christmas-time, I'm not even gonna argue, Sophie."

"Ah!"

Maddy's face went pouty as she smacked at Jonathan's head. He was well prepared for the assault, ducking under his arms for cover.

"You're gonna damage the blunt," Jonathan called.

"And it'll be your fault," Maddy said, sitting back in the driver's seat.

The sleet picked up and Maddy's gaslight turned on.

"Aw, you shoulda told me you needed gas," Jonathan said.

"I wasn't expecting to sit talking to you for thirty minutes."

"Wanna go inside?" Jonathan asked, smiling casually though his chest tightened with hope.

"Mmmph," Maddy huffed before taking another blunt. "Maybe if my parents weren't coming back."

Just then, Maddy's phone buzzed in her pocket. It was her brother.

"Yeah?"

"Where are you?" her brother asked.

"In the driveway doofus," Maddy responded.

"Oh... well Mom was asking bout you."

"Where are they?" Maddy asked.

"They're still at Aunt Karen's."

"Oh, they went out to Auntie Karen's?"

"Yeah, they went there for the baby," her brother said. "But they'll be back later. "

Maddy knew when mom went to her sister's, she was there for hours. She hung up. Her eyes flicked to Jonathan's face. His bushy eyebrows furrowed slightly. His cap had fallen off and his hair was as wavy as Maddy remembered. She liked... she loved how his face was now wrapped in a small, neat beard.

"Still wanna come in?" she asked.

Jonathan gave her a look.

"You know I do."

Maddy grinned and Jonathan put out the roach.

They zipped up and darted through the rain and to the front porch.

Jonathan was feeling the nerves in his stomach, remembering the last time he came to this front door.

Flashback!

Six months before high school graduation.

The door swung open and Jonathan was greeted by a shorter Italian lady with curly brown hair, big boobs and a wide smile.

"Jonathan!" she said. "Nice to see you."

"Nice to see you too, Mrs. Barrone."

She waved him in and he was led to the living room, where an older man sat in an armchair reading. He had a sports blazer over a t-shirt with khakis. His long, stern face was covered in a short graying beard. The gentleman looked up at Jonathan as he was made to sit on the couch.

He gave a brisk smile and grunt to Jonathan and went back to his book.

Jonathan's heart was suddenly pounding and a few moments later he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. He turned to see Maddy who beamed at him from the stairs.

"Jonathan, hey!" she called. "Gimme just a minute."

She bustled off to the kitchen. Jonathan shuffled his feet. He looked over. Maddy's dad was looking up at him before returning to his book.
