Masters of the Opera

Bertrand and Sakura make love in a janitor's closet inside the opera house. Bertrand mounts a production of Puccini's Turandot. His wife Bianca has the starring role of Turandot, and his mistress Sakura is in the role of the slave, Liu. Daniel Durant has the part of Prince Calaf. The rehearsals are problematic because Bianca hates Sakura for being her husband's mistress and a rising new star. The performances are a success. After the end of the first week of performances, a news reporter from a Boston TV station pursues Bianca and Sakura into an elevator. He interviews them and asks questions in the elevator. This leads to exchanges of insults and a verbal fight. Just then the elevator becomes stuck. Bertrand is aware that his wife and mistress are in the elevator and calls for the fire department to rescue them. After they are rescued, Bianca tells Bertrand that she cannot stand working in the same opera house as his mistress. She refuses to divorce him. Instead, she decides to quit and go to sing in another opera house. But she vows to make his life hell, and declares war on him. Sakura is now the new star of the Boston Opera house.
