Simon - Part Eleven
Our next step would be to reconnoiter at Simon's lair. Again, a limited number of operators would be attending to this assignment. This mission would be Robocentric, and it would be mostly to discover where the air vents for what we were calling a cave terminated. But finding these vents may also give us a chance to drop a wasp drone into the place.
While the mission was underway, my job was to loosen the lips of Simon Meetcham. There would be items I wished to find, such as memory sticks and gold. I would also seek out who is in charge of the home while Simon was away. If that person had decided to stick around, maybe I would take him too. But first, Dom and I visited Simon.
"Tell me about your place, Simon. I'd like to visit."
"Ha. You'll never find it. You don't even..."
"Know where it is? Sure I do." And I showed him video taken by Alec of the doorway to his mountain home. Boy, was he shaken.
"How..."
"That's for me to know, Simon. Tell me, who did you leave behind? How many of your troops are still there awaiting the word from somebody? Anticipating the next step. One word from you, and I expect they will, like rats, flee the sinking ship. That would certainly make my job easier. And it would cause the remaining people less harm. Not that I expect you to care about them."
"I don't know why you expect me to cooperate when you have treated me so badly. You call me a guest, but I've never treated a guest of mine so brutally."
"Oh? You only think you've seen brutality. You ain't seen nuthin' yet."
"I don't know. Your Mossad agent seems to have no filter, and he doesn't stop till he gets what he wants."
"That's not what he tells me. What you have experienced is Avi-lite. He tells me he's got a whole lot more in the tank. And that you are holding back plenty. However, your former stormtrooper, Polo, isn't holding back at all. Your being such a prick to him has helped me immensely. Tell me, Simon, who's in charge at the cave in your absence. That feels like a good place to start. Tell me."
"Who do you think you..."
"Who do I think I am? I'm the one in the room that's fully dressed and had the most spectacular breakfast this morning. And you? How's that oatmeal, Simon? Used to it yet?"
"Never. And that's when I will tell you what I know."
"Dom, what is the cattle prod set at?"
"It's at three, ma'am. Should I set it higher?"
"No. I think three will be fine. This is not about what, but where. Give me that thing."
Domingo handed me the cattle prod, and I took it and set it down on Simon's forehead, right between the eyes.
"What do you think, Simon. Should I scramble your brains, or..." And I took the prod and shoved it into his left groin and pulled the trigger.
"EEEYYOOWW!" was the cry from the surprised human trafficker.
"You...you...you..."
"Cat got your tongue, Simon?"
"You bitch!"
"I'll show you who's the bitch around here, you motherfucker." And I hit him with the prod again, this time in the taint, between his balls and anus, practically shoving the thing up his ass.
"EEEYYOOWW!" he screamed again. Struggling against his bonds, his eyes bugging out and tearing up.
"I've got a whole lot more coming, Simon. But you can get me to ease up by simply answering my questions and giving me what I want. It's really quite simple, and you have no alternative. No good ones. Nobody is coming for you, Simon. You're mine for the duration. So give it up. You have not yet experienced level four, and all I have to do is..."
"No. No more. Collette. Keep Collette is in charge until my return. And he will hold the fort forever."
"Forever is a long time, Simon. Sooner or later resources have to run out. People need to get paid. They need sustenance; they need the things that your being there provides."
"Collette knows what he's doing and can hold off an army with the resources he has on hand. I left him in great shape to do just that."
"Yes, but he expected you back days ago. I'm sure that by now he is weighing his options."
"You don't know Collette."
"Oh, Simon, but I will. One way or another."
I continued my conversation with Simon, but got truly nowhere. No more information about who is in the cave and nothing about passwords or locations of sensitive documents and such. Not wanting to overdo the cattle prod, lest I kill the man prematurely, I let up. And so, I went to Plan B.
"Simon, I'm going to allow you one good meal so that you can see the rewards obtainable with cooperation. Give me more, and you get more."
"May I please be clothed? It's chilly in here, especially at night."
"Oh, that's just the air conditioning. It's plenty warm outside. If you would like some outdoor time, just let me know. Cooperation can get you some of that."
"You're not concerned about me running off?"
"Little chance of that, my man. My people wouldn't let you get ten feet before you were dragged back in here and shackled to that chair again. You can bet on that."
"That's okay, I won't take that bet."
My Plan B was drugs. Pharmaceuticals that may act to loosen Simon's lips and give me what I wanted. I could get the drugs, but I didn't feel comfortable administering them. However, I knew someone with an anesthesia background that I trusted and was about to work closely with.
As Ronnie drove Domingo and I home I made a call.
"Call William Jenkins."
"Hello."
"William, it's Hannah."
"I was just thinking about you and wondering when we'd be getting together."
"Sooner rather than later, William. How soon can you get some time off. There is something I need you for."
"Oh, did you secure the location for the new facility?"
"Close, but not yet, although we can make a side trip to check it out. I have another job in mind. One you are uniquely qualified for."
"How long will you need me for? I can probably take a week off at this point and another one when you need me out there again, before giving my notice."
"I don't know that I will need you for that long, but it could give me a chance to introduce you to some people and give you a chance to vet potential administrative staff."
"How about if I come Thursday and stay through the weekend. Would that do it?"
"I think that would do quite nicely, but first let me tell you a story."
And I told him about our part in the latest government raid of the human trafficking auction and that I needed someone with an anesthesia background who could handle drugs like propofol and sodium Pentothal. I would supply the drugs if he could supply the expertise. He was happy to be a part of our effort.
"I don't know what you are doing and can hardly believe you are this involved, but I'm in all the way. Your story is compelling, and the news of your exploits are truly groundbreaking. And if my helping will help the girls we will be aiding I'm doubly in."
"Just what I expected. Thanks, William. I'll set you up at my house for this visit. Give you a chance to meet the family."
"It will just be nice to see you, my friend. It's been too long."
"Yes, it has."

As soon as I got off the phone with William, I called Gloria to let her know he is coming to town and that I'd like her to meet him. She agreed, and we planned on a dinner at my place for just the adults. We made it for Friday night. This would be a working weekend for William and me. Then I called Avi to see if he could connect with a friend of his to see about the drugs.
"Avi, it's Hannah. I need you to tap your pharmaceutical connection. I'm taking a different approach with Simon. I need Propofol and Pentothal. Can you get them for me?"
"I should be able to. Pentothal is hard to get, especially fresh and viable. I'll check my source and get back to you."
He checked, and we were good to go. He would be present during the administration of the drugs and would help with the questioning.

I sent Alec and Anthony down to Simon's place along with Tish, who would be working as our Robo for the time being. They were there simply to flesh out where the ventilation was and to figure out how we could approach the vents and block them so we could cut off the air supply.
Alec's secondary job was to fly a wasp drone into one of the vents and into the cave. If that worked, we'd be that much closer to knowing what we are up against.
In the meantime, I was having a great time with William. Friday night we had dinner with Gloria and discussed our new project. He just loved my hair and said it made me look butch. Gloria had a preference for tall, handsome black men, and William was no different. They got on famously, and Gloria decided that she would take him to the potential facility herself. Just to check things out. But not this weekend. This weekend I had a job for William, and they scheduled the tour of the facility with the real estate agent for his next shift off. William would be doing a lot of traveling until he settled down in our neck of the woods.
On Saturday, William, Avi and I, escorted by Dom and Ronnie, went to the ranch house to set up our Plan B. I set the IV for the drugs, and the boys made sure that Simon was secured to the bed. William acted as the anesthesiologist, and I acted as the nurse anesthetist. Avi would be the interrogator. He knew what I wanted.
"Tell me, Simon, what is the passcode to entering your dwelling in Tennessee. What will open the garage door?"
"Hee, hee. You don't expect me to tell you that, do you?"
"Give him a stronger dose of the Pentothal, William," Avi said. "I'll give it a minute to set in."
And we waited as he seemed to get fuzzier.
"Tell me, Simon, the passcode to enter your cave. What gets the garage door open?"
"9-7-3-8-2 is..."
"Relax, Simon," William said. Take it slow, Avi."
"Will do. But I've just have a couple more questions to ask right now."
"Go for it, then."
"Simon, where is the data stored in the cave?"
"Bookcase. Behind... Office."
"How do we get behind the bookcase?"
"War and Peace. Pull."
"How about the vault? Where is it located and how do we get in?"
"Vault, bookcase. Combination 48-13-26."
"Is that where the data is kept?"
"Yes, and desk drawer."
"And is the desk drawer locked?"
"Yes. Fingerprint."
"We need your fingerprint to open the desk drawer?"
"Yes. Fingerprint."
"Any other way into that drawer?"
"Crowbar."
"Where is War and Peace?"
"Upper left corner."
"Is anything else stored anywhere in the house?"
"Yes. Madoijhernon. Mumble, mumble."
"I think we're losing him," William said. "I'm concerned about going further."
"That's okay," I said. "That's enough for now. We'll keep the IV in and hit him again with more questions tomorrow. I'm satisfied that this thing is working. Let's bring him back down to earth."
William brought him back to consciousness, and he had no idea he had spilled the beans or what beans he spilled. I told him we had failed but we would be trying again tomorrow.
In the meantime, I had given instructions to have him well fed after his session. But still no clothing. Don't want to give him too much of a reward.
Saturday night, William and I had dinner alone together. I wanted to talk about our upcoming project and to do a full reveal of all I have been doing to fill the beds of the new rehab hospital we'd be opening. He was astonished, but somehow not surprised.
"You mean that all I have been hearing on the news about freed trafficked girls is you? I'm shocked, but not surprised. I always knew you were in it for the greater good. You are..."
"Tired. That's what I am. Although I only went on one small mission, I have been awake and aware through all of it. Many long, sleepless nights and much worrying. But, on the other hand, great satisfaction. My forces are a well-oiled machine, though, and that gives me some peace."
"My little Hannah Todd, little miss nursey nurse is a total world class badass. Go know."
"Aw, shucks. But my contribution is minimal compared to my boys and my girls."
"You have women commandos working for you?"
"I have a gal who flies helicopters that would knock your socks off. Quite literally. She's a world class boxer in her own right and fights mainly men in her weight class. The gals are scared of her."
"Oh, you sleepin' with her too?"
"Nah. I don't think she swings that way. Lizzie has already taken a run at her without success. Maybe you can take a shot. Unless you are still more into guys."
"You never can tell. As a fellow bisexual, you know the door swings every which way and has opened for me more often than not."
"You are a looker, there, Mr. Jenkins. I'll make introductions in time if you still have an interest. Juicy is very much into her work and she may be Ace for all I know."
"Asexual? No kidding. Definitely not my type. Hey, I'm coming to Philly now, so my type is as plentiful as weeds in May. I'm not concerned. At least not about that."
"Oh? Concerns? Tell me."
"No, no. Just that it's gonna be a big responsibility and a lot will rest on my shoulders."
"And if you don't wind up making a half a mill this year, I'd be shocked. Mrs. Tuttlehill is very generous. Especially to those she likes and who serve her well."
"Well, I'm looking forward to it. Ever since I got my M.S.N. I've been wanting to put those skills to work. Looks like I'm going to in spades."
"I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that you are back in my life. I've missed you and look forward to having my trusted friend around on a regular basis."
"In bed?"
"Never, I'm afraid. My bed partner gets very jealous, and he is big and he is bad. But in a very, very good way. We're getting married in December."
"But I thought you and Holly..."
"Yesterday's news. Yes, I still love Holly, but we've both found a more heterosexual route we each want to tread. She's got her man and I've got mine. And..."
"Never the twain shall meet."
"Something like that."
Dinner was a late affair for us, as I wanted to do it after the kids were in bed. Bertha was around, of course, but she's privy to everything and never a security concern. We talked about our next session with Simon and his concern about taking Simon deeper into the trance he was in with the Pentothal. But, after hearing about the kind of man Simon was and the things he'd done, he said he had no problem pushing the envelope.
I was tired when William went off to bed. So I climbed into my bed with my man, and after no sex and no pillow talk I was comatose until the early morning.

--------------------------------------------------------
Sunday morning brought a bright and sunny day filled with expectations. And bacon. Everyone was going to the Tuttlehills to swim, except for William and me. We would be meeting Avi at the ranch house to take another stab at Simon.
I brought a breakfast sandwich which I used to tempt Simon's cooperation. But he'd be eating nothing until after the 'procedure.' Without choice, being chained down and all, he remained still while we administered the drugs. Once he was in a calm, amenable state, Avi started with the questions.
"Is there an escape route out of the cave for emergency exit?"
"Yes."
"Tell me where it is and how it works."
"Behind the red door in the rear of the garage. Two cars. Fast cars and a motorcycle. Exits through a tunnel to gravel road then to road."
"Who knows about this exit?"
"Collette knows. Kominski knows too, but I believe he is dead. Or captured at auction."
"And, of course, you know."
"I know."
"Where is your HVAC set up?"
"Second floor, I imagine. All utilities on second floor, below the barracks, above the garage."
"And girls. Are you keeping any girls at the cave?"
"Maybe a dozen left at home rather than attending auction. The rest went to auction."
"Is there anything at the cave Collette is not able to access?"
"No. Keep has full access to everything."
I was tracking his vitals and I let William know that the numbers were dropping. He decided it was time to call it off.
"I have one more question to ask," said Avi. "Can I take one more shot. It may be important."
"Do it, but do it quickly."
"Simon, at what time do your troops inside the cave stand down? And when do they change shifts?"
"Up to Collette. But usually lights out is at ten. And all shift changes are done internally, so there is no disruption of service and security..."
"Enough." William said. "I'm bringing him out of it. It's time to call it quits. Maybe next time I am in town we can revisit this..."
"I've got what I wanted," Avi said. Will he remember what he told us?"
"Probably not. He shouldn't remember anything. Ask him when he comes out of it."
It took Simon just a couple of minutes to come down from his trance, and when asked, he said he remembered nothing. So, we gave him the breakfast sandwich and parted the ranch house.
William would head home after a nice lunch at my place. Peaceful because the kids were away swimming. I couldn't thank him enough. He'd be coming back at the end of the week when he had three days off for his usual shift relief. We'd be visiting the potential facility Gloria and I were considering purchasing. William would have a deciding vote as to whether or not we would.

In the meantime, Ronnie had taken the Bell 407x, and flew Alec, Anthony and Tish down to Knoxville, Tennessee where they rented a car and Ronnie drove the three to where Simon's lair was. He dropped them off on the road outside the property and they hiked in to where the cave stood.
From the woods, Tish could, using her specialized headpiece, determine where the air vents were. They appeared to be on the front side of the mountain and as Tish mapped out where the vents were, Alec flew a wasp drone to one that she pointed out.
The vent Alec used was, according to Tish, one of the larger vents, but several feet down there was a screen, apparently to keep animals from entering the premises, but it was not so fine as to prevent the wasp from entering the cave. The vent, at its access point inside the cave was completely open, allowing the drone to move around freely. It emptied into what appeared to be the second floor of the cave system. Where the working staff worked and the utilities were kept. And the girls.
I was watching the entire time in the videoconference room as the wasp drone flew from the second floor, up to the third floor where the troops' barracks and administrative offices were. Half a dozen troops, dressed in their black cammo fatigues were lounging around, some sleeping to prepare for their next shift. Others were working in the administrative offices, as if nothing strange was happening with their boss.
