Moving to Wilmington, North Carolina was not an easy decision for a 16 year old who had spent all her life in California. Leaving the life and friends you have known forever is never an easy thing. Holly's mother stayed with family taking care of Minnie when Holly was away for business trips. Minnie's father had passed away in a car crash when she was 11. Minnie naturally craved for the assuring male presence in her life as she often felt like she was taking care of her mom and nana more than they did her.

It was a shock to Minnie when Holly suddenly meant for the family to move to North Carolina where she had met Hunter McHaven, a 44 year old History Professor working in the nearby university and fell in love with the man. Holly wanted to marry Hunter and move to Wilmington as her job was not tying her down. Minnie was happy that her mom was moving on with her life but was not excited to move away from her home and Nana.

Holly married Hunter that summer. Minnie met Hunter in the wedding and was taken aback by his authoritative and formidable presence. He was tall and muscular mostly due to his Scottish heritage with clear blue eyes and chestnut brown hair. Hunter also had a son named Aidan from his first marriage. Aidan's mother had passed away due to ovarian cancer 5 years ago. Aidan was like his father in looks and build, he was a 25 year old guy running a brewery and bar in the town that belonged to his maternal grandfather.

Aidan and Minnie spoke very little in the wedding with Hunter doing most of the talking and socializing. The family lived in a nice condo overlooking the beach that was slightly secluded from the town. Although it was difficult for Minnie at the start, she soon started adjusting to the new life and the local School, where she was enrolled by the McHavens.

Aidan spoke very little to Holly and Minnie as he mostly stayed in the apartment above the bar he ran. So it was just Hunter, Holly, and Minnie in the house mostly and so they settled into being a comfortable family with occasional vacations and family dinners where mostly Hunter kept everyone chatting comfortably.

When Minnie turned 17, she wanted to find a part-time job to save up for her College. When she brought this up during the dinner, Hunter was not happy to hear this and said, " There is no need for you to work, darling. I can take care of your College expenses. However, if you wanted to just have fun while working, you can always lend a hand in the Bar with your brother. I am sure Aiden won't mind." "Oh that's great, baby! Minnie is a sweet natured girl and doesn't know much about the World. I would be more comfortable if she works with Aidan." Holly chimed in.

Minnie was happy to work in the Bar and agreed to the Plan. She would save some money up just in case for the future. However she was anxious to work with Aidan who she hardly spoke to in the year of living here partly because Aidan was pretty intense and gruff whenever he was around her. He rarely spoke to her and when he did he stared at her too long in that intense way that made her feel light headed. Minnie started working the evening shifts when the crowd was high.

Minnie grew up to be a pretty girl, she was one of those girls who suddenly came into their curves in the senior year. Hunter was more caring towards Minnie understanding the little girl had lost both her parents. He took her out for dinners and picnics to cheer her up. One evening, they were sitting on the porch when Hunter suddenly said, " I will always be your family, Minnie. Remember that you are precious to me." Minnie was not able to answer, her throat was closed up. So Minnie did what she never had done before, she stood and walked up to Hunter and hugged him tight. Hunter held her on his lap, consoling the crying girl. Minnie stayed on Hunter's lap for a while and they watched the sea quietly, both lost in their own tragic thoughts.

The sea breeze was cool and Minnie shivered, Hunter being the protective man, turned her toward him to warm her accidentally crushing her breasts to his chest. Both froze for a second realising the taboo position they were in. Minnie started breathing heavily as she was feeling this weird sensation in her stomach for the first time and could not understand what she wanted. She parted her pink lips slightly and Hunter was lost in her beauty.
