Chapter 7 - Four New Lives
Around 11:00 as Kurt entered the gangway to the British Airways 787 Dreamliner he had mixed feelings about the sudden upheaval to his life. Not only was he leaving his job at Halliburton for a new job, but overseas in London away from his parents and - away from his wife, his soon-to-be ex-wife.
Now, he wondered how he'll survive a 12 hour flight with all the thoughts colliding in his mind, As he entered the aircraft he was directed to the left. Left? That's business class and first class! The attendant looked at his ticket and smiled, and escorted him to the front of the plane: First class.
He was stunned at the private suite he entered. There was an amenity bag and pajamas laid out on a small counter. Doors opened for additional storage and leg room. There was, a big screen with multiple entertainment options including movie selection, games, WIFI for surfing and messaging as well an excellent sound system with a high-end headset.
As he took in the luxury, he heard a familiar voice across the aisle. While there were no doors on the suites, they were still private as there were no direct sight lines with other passengers. Kurt went into the aisle and found in the next suite his new best friend, Gordon.
"Well old chap, what do you think?" smiled Gordon.
"Gordon! What the... I, I don't know what to think. I didn't know I'd be flying first class! This is amazing, I'm stunned!"
"Well, my new employee, this is how we fly when we work for a hedge fund. We're basically all about money; lots of money. And we go first class everywhere. Just wait 'til you see your corporate housing in London!"
"Gordon, my life has changed so much in the last three days I'm having a hard time absorbing it all."
"I feel the same way Kurt. But you've got to admit, our plan is as good or better than our wife's plans. The one thing they forgot to plan for is what might happen if they got caught. And flying first class, getting a good meal and a good night's sleep is the best way for you and I to get started on the rest of our lives as we put the past behind us. There'll be plenty of time for grieving the past, plenty of time - and money - for therapy."
Kurt retreated into his suite and was presented with a warm towel to wipe his face, which he found so refreshing. The bottled water was slightly chilled, and he was presented with canapes while awaiting take-off.
He perused the menu for the full meal service and discovered he was basically flying in a four-star restaurant. There would be a number of courses in the meal service, along with a full breakfast just before landing. There was a good range of different wines with a nice write-up for each one along with a separate cocktail menu.
He decided on a salmon appetizer, followed by Welsh lamb with rice mabus and a glass of Bordeaux. For dessert he ordered a soft baked chocolate tart paired with a dessert wine.
There was a very spacious private bathroom for first class only, where he changed into the pajamas. Upon returning to his suite he saw the crew had made up his full-length bed for him. He watched a movie, then fell asleep until being woken up by the breakfast service.

By 8 am London time Gordon and Kurt were in the company limousine headed to their corporate housing in Chelsea. As the limo drove by the high-end eateries, trendy boutiques, and art galleries he thought he caught a glimpse of Richard Branson.
"Kurt, you'll find that's normal in this part of London. I assure you; you'll find plenty of replacements for Kamsey quickly in this part of town. The nightlife is amazing! And the transportation is fantastic. In no time at all you'll be a local!"
Kurt found Gordon's reassurance comforting.
Kurt was not incompetent, but Gordon could tell that Kurt was hurting a little from the unfamiliar surroundings that now would be his new normal.

About the same time as the men arrived in London, it was 3:00 am back in the States. Gail and Kamsey were huddled together in Kamsey's home on what had been the marital bed of Kurt and Kamsey. They were all cried out, and the alcohol had not helped them get to sleep.
"Why? Why would they stand us up like that? It was so embarrassing sitting there for hours, everyone looking at us wondering what we were doing there." Gail sniffed and blew her nose once again.
"And when the manager came and asked us to leave since we were taking up space the entire day," Kamsey whined, "I was so embarrassed. I left $50 for the waiter who must have refilled our water glasses a hundred times."
"Where are they Kam? I miss my Gordon."
"I miss my Kurt. They're punishing us Gail and we deserve it."
The women fell asleep from sheer exhaustion. They were still asleep at 10 am when Gail woke up from the constant ringing of the doorbell and banging on the door. "Kamsey! Kam! Wake up, someone's here?"
Groggily Kamsey sat up, her head swimming in a headache. "Someone's here? Is it Kurt?"
"I don't know, let's go see." Gail helped her groggy friend out of bed and down the stairs to the door. Upon opening it they saw two women. One was a short girl, black hair, heavy black eye make-up holding her phone and a manilla envelope.
"Are you Kamsey Kennedy?" Kamsey nodded confusingly. Kamsey thought she heard the words "You've been served," as she took the envelope from the young woman.
The other woman had a nice business pants suit, her hair nicely curled, nice nails and walked up to Kamsey and said 'please sign here and here," and gave Kamsey a pen. In her morning fog, headache, and remnants from the alcohol imbibed without moderation only hours before, she signed where indicated.
"OK guys, go ahead!" the woman turned and shouted to two men in a pickup truck. They unloaded an augur post drill and went to the front yard and drilled a hole, then pushed a white post into the hole, stabilized it, then hung a sign on the post.
Gail watched through the front window, as Kamsey had closed the door and walked to the kitchen to make coffee, remembering how this was something her husband had always done for her every morning.
"Oh shit. Shit Shit Shit! Oh shit!" Gail said with urgency. Kamsey looked across the kitchen to the living room wondering what her friend was grousing about now. 'Yeah," Kamsey thought, "My 'friend' that was too stupid to wash her fuckin' car."
"Kam you've got to see this. Oh shit shit shit shit."
Kamsey pushed the brew button and shuffled over to the window. She wiped her eyes once, then twice. "Is that a... for sale sign?"
Gail turned to look at Kamsey, her eyebrows low, her eyes wide. "Kurt is selling the home! Kamsey, he's selling the home! What's in that envelope?"
Suddenly Kamsey was alert, her heart pounding, hand shaking as she reached to open the envelope. Pulling out the papers all she needed to read was the top of the page.
It was as if a shockwave from an explosion ripped through the house with no warning, knocking down every picture, splintering every door, the shockwave racing outwards blowing papers and furniture, blowing out the windows and dispersing its remaining energy in a cloud.
Both the women were affected, wandering about, shocked, injured, with ears ringing and wondering what just happened. Metaphorically they knew that both their lives had been blown to pieces.
Kamsey appeared to be in a catatonic state, emotionless, sitting in her husband's recliner, staring out to the sign in the front yard.
Gail took the envelope from Kamsey's hand and emptied it on the kitchen table. Along with the divorce paperwork, a smaller letter-size envelope fell out with a small clink when the letter fell to the table. Gail had a sinking feeling of what was in that small envelope.
The coffee beeped as it finished brewing, and Gail brought her friend a cup of coffee and helped her sip it and sat with her as the coffee helped bring Kamsey back to her senses. All the while Gail had a sinking feeling of what she might discover upon her return to her home.
It took a few hours for Gail to help Kamsey regain her composure. Plenty of coffee, a hot shower, and helping her go through the motions of getting dressed helped Kamsey begin to face the reality of her situation.
The divorce documents were quite clear about the house and assets and did not offer alimony - even though Kamsey only worked part-time at low wage. Kamsey clearly realized she'd have to fight her husband for something to live on, that is, if she couldn't get him to reconcile with her.
But the real problem was the smaller envelope. As she tore it open Kurt's wedding ring fell out. Symbolically it was a nail, the last nail in the coffin of their marriage. The letter read:
Kamsey, at some point in the future I hope we both remember the good years we had together. Clearly you had a good year this past year and at my financial and emotional expense. In my wildest dreams I never would have thought you could be so heartless, so strategic, so evil in your planning to cheat behind my back.
The very thought that I've been unwillingly cucked by you and all your affair partners sickens me. But I know I'm not at fault for this. None of the minor issues we've had justifies such treachery. This is all on you and your co-conspirator Gail.
As you read this I am far, far away physically and emotionally from you. Do not contest the divorce. My attorney will rip you to shreds, and don't forget the evidence I have of what you've done. As thoughtful and smart as you have been to hide your fuck sessions, I'm sure you can be as thoughtful and smart about what I could do with this evidence. Remember, you have a future life that you don't need to ruin further by pissing me off any more than you have.
"I'm leaving you my wedding ring. Maybe you can sell it to pay the utility bills. You'll need the money. Don't try and call, text, email or reach me in any way, shape, or form.
"At this point, I no longer take you to be my lawfully wedded wife, nor hold you, from this day forward, and only for worse and for poorer, though I do wish you good health so you can live a long time remembering what you've done to us and what a shitty person you are."

On the drive home Gail shivered at what she read in Kurt's letter to her friend. Was that a portent of what she could expect from Gordon when she got home? And where was Gordon?
As she pulled into her driveway she saw the same goth girl sitting on the porch. Her heart sank, leaned her head on the steering wheel and cried. There was a tap-tap on the car window, the girl had walked to the car and was waiting for Gail to open the car door.
"You're Gail Goodwin, right?"
"Yes, just give them to me. I know what it is." Gail whispered through her sniffles.
With a deep sigh Gail slowly walked up to the front door only to notice a taped envelope on the door. She pulled it down and unlocked the door and went inside, to an empty room.
The living room was bare, the carpets slightly damp from just being cleaned. She briskly walked into the empty kitchen, opened the empty cabinets, then ran through the rest of the house to find it just as empty. She went to the laundry room and into the attached garage and found everything empty except for a number of boxes in the garage with her name on them.
She opened several of them to discover her clothing and personal possessions.
Much of Gail's emotion had been exhausted on behalf of her girlfriend with little remaining for herself. It was probably best because while scared and uncertain of the morning's events, she at least could think more clearly since knowing what happened to Kamsey.
She sat on a box and opened the large envelope, and sure enough they were divorce papers but no letter from Gordon. Her heart sank. At this point she'd take anything she could have of Gordon's, even a letter in his own handwriting. But not even that.
She scanned through the papers and realized she was getting nothing and would have to fight him in court, but then it hit her: If the home is empty and Gordon isn't here, he could always go back to Britain, back to London! Then she remembered the job offer he had. She hung her head in her hands once again and slowly shook her head.
"None of that sex was worth this kind of cost," she said to herself.
The smaller envelope taped to the door contained one more piece of bad news:Notice to remaining occupant: You must vacate the premises by Friday of this week. This is corporate housing and the employee is no longer in-country, and only direct employees may occupy the premises."
She was now broke and homeless.
Gail pulled out her cell phone to call Kamsey. Perhaps she could stay with Kamsey, her best friend, while she sorted out the rest of her life. There was no signal. Actually, Gail was smart enough to realize there was no service on her phone anymore.
She walked next door to borrow the neighbor's phone and called Kamsey, who of course was willing to have someone else in her lonely home who could understand what happened, who could mourn with her, and together try and figure out what to do.
Gail thanked her neighbor and left just in time to see her car being hoisted onto a flat-bed trailer. "Wait! What are you doing with my car!?" she screamed, running across the lawn to the big-bellied bearded man, with his hands remaining on the electric winch as the car was pulled up to the trailer bed.
"According to the paperwork it's a company lease car that's been turned in, doll. I'm just doing my job." he responded as he shamelessly looked this beautiful woman up and down.
"No! Please! I have no car and no phone service and need to move my belongings to my friend! You can't take it yet!" she pleaded.
"Lady, what would you have me do? This is how I get paid. Everyone wants me to give them a break but it costs me if I do that, and there's no guarantee I'd find the car if I give you a break. What's to say you won't try and hide it from me?"
Gail understood his viewpoint. She also understood his roving eyes. She pondered her situation for a moment, using the only tricks she was experienced in to win him over. It was by pulling a 'trick,' of course.
Walking up to him and placing her palm on his chest, she said, "All I need is to load up my boxes and take them to Kamsey's home where I'm going to live, then I can use her car. You could follow me over there. I can even give you her address and phone number to verify all of this."
The unkempt, overweight, greasy man looked into this woman's baby blue eyes, a face framed by the blonde hair surrounding her face, splashing onto her shoulders, where just below was enough visible cleavage to give more than enough of a hint as to what remained tucked away.
"Hey doll, I'd like to help you out, really I would, especially for such a gorgeous luscious woman as yourself. But if I help you out, then I'd have to help everyone out. Right? I mean, there's really nothing different in your request than anyone else's request to not tow them. Understand?"
Gail understood much too clearly. She responded, "I think my request is significantly different than anyone else's. Perhaps you can come into my garage and I can explain why, or better yet show you why." The unkempt man smirked and followed her into the garage.
She shut the garage door and turned to him and said, "Maybe after you hear my request, you can help me load up these boxes on your trailer and follow me over to Kamsey's house?" The old greasy man nodded his head with a wide smile and said, "It all depends on how you make the request."
"Well, you see, " said Gail in her sultry voice, "my request is more of a non-verbal one. In fact, you might even call it a hummer."
She got down on her knees and looked up at him, working her face up to a smile as she undid his dirty trousers and pulled out his cock. The initial smell of moistness and sour odor was revolting, but she knew this is what she had to do. This was not one of her musky affair partners by any stretch of the imagination.
Gail did a lot of spitting and licking trying to at least clean some of the smell off so the remaining work wouldn't be as grotesque. But even after all that she found that this old man had an incredible amount of stamina. It took almost 15 minutes to get him off. And when he did it was the smelliest, nastiest cum that she had ever had in her mouth. When she looked up, he had that look of bliss and satisfaction, and she knew that she would get what she wanted.
After the boxes were loaded onto the trailer, he followed her over to Kamsey's house and was amazed to see another incredibly beautiful woman when Kamsey opened the door! He was offended though when Kamsey took a look at him and her face fell in a brief look of disgust.
Gail noticed this and hurriedly pushed Kamsey back into the house and said, "Ignore him. I had to do what I had to do for him to help me move over here, but he was going to take my car away. Gordon must have turned it in, or else the company knew that he had left the country and they took the car and the home back all as part of corporate housing assistance. And I have no rights to the car or my home anymore."
"We're fucked Gail. The guys really did a number on us, didn't they! I fear this is only the beginning. Let's get your things inside, have a glass of wine, and figure out what we're going to do."
Kamsey understood their predicament all too well, so she went outside with Gale and approached the trailer and coyly asked the man if he could help bring the boxes inside the house.
But in his repossessing job the man had a lot of experience in dealing with desperate people. He just stood at the trailer looking at her and said "Your beautiful friend made a special request to help load the boxes up and follow her over here." But I don't recall getting any special request from you to help unload the boxes and bring them into the house. Do you want to re-think the way that you're asking?"
Kamsey was shocked at the plain way he spoke to her, as if he had no concerns in the world, that whatever he wanted he would get. As a knockout, a beautiful woman, she'd never had a man speak so directly and contemptuously to her, especially when the implication was for sex.
She realized he held all the cards.
But Gail immediately knew what he was asking and interrupted on behalf of her shocked and stunned friend, "I'll take care of you, I assure you." But the man shook his head, "No, no, I've already experienced what you have to offer, doll, and I've no complaints" he smirked.
"I'm thinking of a fresh approach from somebody else and a fresh request. What do you say, babe?" as he looked hungrily at Kamsey. Kamsey put her hands on her hips and glared at him and said, "You've got to be kidding. You really think that I'm going to give you a blowjob after you already had one?"
He laughed and said, "No, who said anything about a blowjob? I already had one of those. You've got to ask me nicely. In your bedroom. Wearing something nice. You understand?"
Kamsey's mouth opened in shock, and Gail stepped forward, "Now just a minute. That's asking a lot and you should be thankful you got what you got. Don't push it buster!"
The ugly man raised his eyebrows nonchalantly, turned, and went to get in the truck cab and started it up. "Wait!" screamed Gail. "Wait, you can't leave with my stuff! Wait you fucker!"
The brake lights went on as he stopped moving forward and leaned out the window to look at Kamsey. "Well?"
Kamsey folded her arms on her chest and sighed deeply and walked slowly up to the driver's door and looked up. Her expression was serious, not sexual, the corners of her mouth pointing downwards. She didn't say anything, all she did was nod her head in the direction of the house then slowly turned and walked back to the front door.
