"You're right. I'll go get a robe from my room." Evie slipped from the bed. It was then that she saw the red stain on the sheets. Her eyes got wide and she blushed. Alexander noticed and he looked at the bed to see what caused her reaction. "It's normal to bleed your first time Evangeline. It's just this once. It won't happen again."

Evie got even redder. "I know. But it's embarrassing to see it on the sheets. And the servants will see it when they strip the bed and later and when they wash them." Alexander walked over to hold her. "I'm sure it's little comfort but you have nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm honored to have been the man to take your virginity. The blood doesn't bother me in the least. And the servants I'm sure will be discreet." Evie sighed. "Well, there's nothing I can do about it. I'll go get my robe." Evie went through the connecting door to her room going to her wardrobe. She put on a soft velvet robe and walked back to her husband's room just in time to hear a knock on the door.

Alexander opened it and to her surprise it was Lucy and Ruth bringing a large tray of food. They sat it on the table and Lucy told Ruth to put away Evie's clothes while she stripped the bedding. Evie looked at Lucy, relief evident on her face. Lucy nodded and winked at her before getting to work. Evie knew in that moment that Lucy had planned this, guessing correctly that Evie would be embarrassed. Alexander and Evie sat down and began eating their dinner and Ruth assisted Lucy in putting clean sheets on the bed. When she finished Ruth asked Evie if she required anything else. Evie told her that she'd like a hot bath brought to her room. Ruth said she'd get the water heating at once as Lucy gathered up the dirty sheets and they walked out the door.

Evie was hungrier than she realized. She hadn't eaten much at the wedding breakfast and all the activity with her husband had given her an appetite. Alexander as well, was digging into his meal. After a while she could hear the bath being brought into her room as well as the comings and goings of people as they brought in hot kettles of water. Once she finished eating, she stood as did Alexander. He held her in his arms and kissed her. "Enjoy your bath, Sweetheart. It'll help with some of the soreness." Evie swayed in his arms, smiling lazily. "Would you like to join me in my room?" Alexander kissed her again. "Not right now. You need some time to yourself after such a long day. Relax in the tub for a bit. My things were brought over here just this morning so I'm going to familiarize myself with the room and see where my things were placed.

Evie nodded kissing him one last time and went to her room. A bath never seemed more inviting. She stripped out of her robe and climbed into the tub. She washed her hair and body and then leaned her head back and closed her eyes. The water was so warm and relaxing. It did help ebb the soreness between her legs and Evie let her mind wander. Alexander chuckled. "Later, my dear. You need to get some more rest. I can wait. Let me care for you tonight." Evie nodded, slightly disappointed but more so grateful. She was exhausted.
