Over the next week Evie and Alexander remained almost exclusively in Alexander's bedroom. A few times they switched to Evie's bed just for a change of scenery. Towards the end of the week they decided to get dressed and explore the house as Alexander hadn't toured it yet. They both had a laugh at that realization and decided that the 'master of the house' should have a general idea of the home's layout.

Evie showed him the entire home ending the tour in what was now Alexander's office. It sported a massive desk that Evie had a difficult time imagining her father sitting behind, even though it had once been his. It was solid in the front and had intricate wood carvings in various designs and patterns. Underneath was equally roomy with enough space for a person to hide under. Alexander walked around the room stopping at the desk. He looked at Evie and said, "This will be perfect for when I must get back to the shipping business. Evie was forlorn when the time came that Alexander had to go back to work and their exclusive time together had come to an end. That day he had a meeting first thing after breakfast in his home office and afterwards he would leave to meet his father at their London office. In the morning they dressed and had breakfast in the dining room for the first time since marrying. Evie was so obviously sad that she didn't eat much. Alexander assured her that he would come home at the earliest possible time. Then Evie had an idea. Evie desperately wanted to see Natti, so she went to his home on Friday. Unfortunately his butler told her that he wasn't home. She asked when he was expected to be back but was told that he came and went whenever business dictated. She left her card with him, so at least Natti would know that she had tried to see him. It had been almost two weeks since her wedding and that had been the last time she'd seen Natti. She missed him terribly. Natti was like a part of her and now that part was missing. Admittingly, she had hardly thought of anyone except her husband since her wedding day. She felt a little guilty for only thinking about Natti now that her husband was back at work every day. She wasn't a very good friend.

Her mood didn't improve when at dinner Alexander told her that he'd be gone the following week on business, leaving Monday and not returning until Friday. Evie was visibly disappointed. Alexander assured her he would rush back to her as soon as he could and when he returned, they'd have the entire weekend together. "I promise not to leave your side once I am home," he said with the smile Evie loved so much. Then he stood saying he didn't feel like eating anymore. He walked over to her chair and reached for her hand. "Come Evangeline. If I am going to be gone for five days, we need to spend this weekend doing everything that we would do if I were home every night. Evie laughed as they ran up the stairs and shut his bedroom door. They spent the next two days doing exactly that.
